Samsung Galaxy S II Wins Smartphone of Year Award At MWC
Samsung Galaxy S II which recently hit 20 million sales has won the smartphone of the year award at MWC , beating the likes of Galaxy Nexus , iPhone 4s and others . The iPad 2 . Samsung was crowned the top device manufacturer award .

Even though the iPhone 4S was not was not able to get the best smartphone award , the iPad 2 did it for Apple and earned the best tablet of the year award .

Panasonic unveiled its smartphone called Eluga Power which packs a 5-inch OLED screen with 720p resolution . The phone is water and dust proof with thin and sleek shell measuring 136 x 70 x 9.6 mm . it has Snapdragon 1.5GHz dual-core processor , 8GB of internal storage microSD slot , 8MP camera capable of recording 1080p video and front camera as well .

Viewsonic showed ViewPhone 4s its and 2 more dual sim smartphones ViewPhone 5e and ViewPhone 4e at MWC . The ViewPhone 4s packs amazing 3.5 inch display with 960x640 resolution and 326ppi in a sleek and stylish two tone casing . The ViewPhone 4s is first dual sim phone to run ICS . It will run ViewSonic's own 3D UI over Android 4.0 . The phone will also have a 5MP rear autofocus camera nad VGA front camera .
The second model ViewPhone 4e has lower resolution screen with 480x320 resolution but looks similar to 4s , it will include a 650mhz processor , 3MP camera and runs android 2.3 .

Acer CloudMobile which won iF design award 2012 recently , was showed at MWC . The phone is super thin and and gorgeous and sports a 4.3inch HD 1280x 720 resolution display which translates to 342ppi . According to engadget , " there's no doubt that this display is among the best that we've seen on a smartphone so far" . The phone has Qualcomm 8260A dual-core 1.5GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage . IT will also offer Android Beam and other NFC features along with free access to Acer's cloud server which stores phone's data directly on your computer . The device is expected to be launched in Q3 2012 .

The long-rumored Optimus 4x was also unveiled at MWC which features NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core SoC with 4-PLUS-1 technology. IT has a true IPS HD display with 313ppi of 4.7inch size and runs Android 4.0 ICS .The device is incredibly thin a 8.9mm with textured back and hard glass front . The device will be priced at £380 and expected in Q3 2012 .

ZTE showed off PF100 tablet powered by Nvidia's Tegra 3 CPU at 1.5GHz running Android 4.0.3 . Its a 10.1 inch tablet with 1280x800 resolution display having 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. it has 5MP rear and 2MP front camera . The model displayed is pre-production model , further details are not yet available but its expected to hit markets in 2012 . Apart from this ZTE launched 3 other tablets including ZTE T98 which has same specs but a 7" design , and two dual core tablets - V96 & V9S with Dual core Qualcomm processors ..

Option annnounced its XYFY (pronounced ex-WiFi) which is claimed to be world's Smallest personal wifi hotspot . Its similar to the size of a USB modem and can support upto 8 Wi-Fi connections or 3G connectivity using USB plug . For power it plugs into 4000MAh adapter which can power it for 8 hours . The pricing is expected to be under $ 100 .

FXI showed "world's smallest PC" at MWC , its just a little bigger than pendrives and packs a dual core ARM Cortex A9 CPU inside coupled with Mali 400 GPU , Wifi , Bluetooth and microSD slot . it has USB and HDMI slots on sides . It can be used to Stream movies , run Android apps , games etc to display , connect wireless mice etc . It currently runs Ubuntu or Android Gingerbread , ICS is expected to be available by March . The product is available for pre-order for $199 and should start shipping in March .

Nokia has unveiled some affordable S40 phones at MWC . Nokia Asha 202 , which is a dual-SIM touchscreen S40 phone with hot swap SIM slot . The Asha 203 is single SIM design similar to 202 and has better battery life and quadband GSM support . The asha 302 is a non touchscreen QWERT model with 1GHz processor , 2.4" QVGA display , 3.2MP camera and quadband GSM support .

Microsoft has finally launched beta version of Windows 8 operating system called Consumer Preview built . Its available for for consumers to install and try out the new OS . Its available in both 32 and 64 bit versions with English, Chinese (simplified), French, German and Japanese language support . The minimum system requirements for running Windows 8 are 1 GHz or faster processor, 1 GB RAM (for the 32 bit version)/ 2 GB RAM (64 bit), 16 GB hard-disk space (32 bit) or 20 GB (64 bit), DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1 or higher driver and a minimum screen resolution of 1024 X 768 pixels .
