Gabe Newell doesn't think EA has been "doing anything super-well yet" with it's digital service Origin

Speaking with the Seven Day Cooldown podcast in an interview, Newell said a lot of things.

He said :

“They have a lot of work to do to get to where they need to be and where I, as a customer would want them to be, I don’t think they’re doing anything super-well yet.

They have a bunch of smart people working on it but I think they’re still playing catch up to a lot of people who have been working in the space for a while. I think they’re recognising what the challenges are with building and scaling out this kind of system.

That’s not to say they won’t build stuff in the future that is useful to software developers or to gamers but they haven’t done that yet.â€

Newell also said that he would love to see EA's exclusive games on Steam too, as it would make both EA and Steam customers very ahppy.

“We think their customers would be happy if their games were on Steam, we tell them that on a regular basis. I think EA wants to take their shot at building their own alternative to Steam, and if they’re successful at that and their customers like that then that’s great.

[But] whatever they’re trying to do to create value for their customers is not a zero sum game.â€

Microsoft's support for "Game for Windows Live" to continue.

As it was reported by PCGamer last September (http://www.pcgamer.c...g-to-windows-8/), Xbox Live will still be a major aprt of Windows 8. Despite of concerns from PC gamers from all over the world have been worried about GFWL.

NeoGamr (http://www.neogamr.n...or-windows-live) recently asked Microsoft whether GFWL is a part of the future plans of Microsoft or not.

They replied :

Microsoft “continues to support†Games for Windows Live

Chris Thursten at 05:29pm April 18 2012 Comments 105

As we reported in September, Xbox Live will be a major part of Windows 8. Despite concerns that PC gamers are being pushed to the sidelines in favour of the console service, this has the potential to be a very good thing. After all, well-integrated support for games could do away with the need for Games for Windows Live, whose primary purpose seems to be to inject a strain of Kafka-esque absurdity into our hobby.

NeoGamr recently asked Microsoft whether GfWL would be receiving the axe with the launch of Windows 8, and the answer, emphatically, is no.

“Microsoft continues to support the Games for Windows platform†their response reads, “but we are making new investments in Metro style games. For the core PC gamer we launched ‘Age of Empires Online’ last year and ‘Microsoft Flight’ on February 29.â€

Darksiders 2 postponed

Bad news for fans who are awaiting Darksiders 2. A post on the official Darksiders 2 website (http://www.darksiders.com/node/2379) says that the game's release date has been pushed back by a couple of months so that the game can be polished up.

The post on their official website says :

“Darksiders II will be moving to release globally in August 2012, rather than June as previously announced. This is great news for the team at Vigil, because it allows additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders II meet the high-quality bar the team is targeting.â€

“As we’ve stated in numerous articles and videos, Darksiders II is substantially larger game than its predecessor and the ambition of this project requires extra time †adds the THQ rep. Vigil have previously said that it’ll be about twice the size of the first game. The post also assures fans that the delay isn’t down to the recent THQ layoffs. “The staffing changes at Vigil Games have not impacted the release date.â€

The game will now relase in the August of this year.

Call of Duty Black Ops 2 teased by retail poster?

blackops2poster610x239.jpg

A blurry picture which had fallen into Kotaku's hands (http://kotaku.com/59...uty-black-ops-2) which was passed onto them by a retail source shows the Treyarch logo with a very large date on it.

Now, this date (2nd of May, 2012) would generally mean a reveal for this game, folowwing last year's Mordern Warfare 3.

This is not the first time we're hearing something about Black Ops 2 though. It waas listed on Amazon for a very brief period, also spotted on Dev CVs and even Activision bought the games domains online. We'll probably know something more concrete in about two week's time.

Yeah I read the Max Payne 3 article, was a beauty the only thing that worries me is ~35GB space requirements, imagine a patch for this, a basic bug fix.

The Witcher 2 and Total War series is enough for my hard-drive and over-crowded STEAM account.

That's my worry too dude! Let's see what happens... just under 40 days to go for MP3.
