Well, it had to happen. Nvidia has slashed its prices for the GTX 770 & 780 in response to AMD's R290X. And what a great price drop it is!

"As expected, in response to AMD launching its world-beating Radeon R9 290X, Nvidia has updated its prices. The GTX 780 will feature an MSRP of $499, and the GTX 770 will set you back $329. Nvidia has also announced pricing for its upcoming GTX 780 Ti, which will cost $699. The GTX 780 Ti will hit shelves beginning November 7, 2013.

At this new price point the GTX 780 is $50 cheaper than the just-released Radeon R9-290X. Just yesterday it cost $100 more.

Furthermore, Nvidia has announced that the GTX 760/660 and above will be part of its "The Way It's Meant to Be Played Holiday Bundle with Shield" promotional package. If you buy a GTX 780Ti, 780, or 770, your package will contain a free copy of Batman: Arkham Origins; Splinter Cell: Blacklist; Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, as well as a $100 Shield discount coupon. Purchase a GTX 760 or GTX 660 and you'll find your hands filled with Splinter Cell: Blacklist; Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and a $50 Shield discount coupon."

^ At its expected list price, the only thing it will "destroy" is whatever little market the Titan had to begin with.

I doubt it will give anywhere near the VFM that the AMD R290x currently does...

Those gpu(7950,7870 or gtx 760 and 600 series) are sub 22k budget, if ur looking for price performance then R9 280x at arnd 24k is best buy, or a gtx 770 if u have a 30k budget. What resolution u planning to game on? If its 1080p then 2gb vram should be enough.

ati 280x at around 25k is a better buy than gtx770 as its a re branded 7970 which is not a bad thing. On nov 5th 290 non x will release ,hope fully it beats the gtx780 ,it will be way cheaper than 780.expected price is $450.
the 290x at $550 kills the titan and the gtx780

Its was fairly apparent that the 780Ti would be faster than the R290x. If it wasn't there would be no reason for Nvidia to demand a $150 price differential over the R290x.

The question is, does the price/performance ratio make it a worthwhile deal considering the extra $150? That's something only time will tell as more and more benchies are out and a proper comparison can be made.

Lastly, I do feel a little bad for Titan owners who paid a $1000 for their cards just some 8 odd months ago...

^ I have said this many times before but here it is again.

If the price of an imported product goes up internationally by Rs.500 at 10:30 AM IST, Indian importers/distris increase their prices by Rs.1000 (that's not a typo, I mean DOUBLE of whatever the increase abroad was) by 11:30 AM, virtually the SAME day. It's as if they somehow cleared all their existing stock and "magically" imported and distributed freshly purchased items in just one hour!

On the other hand, if the price of the same product goes down by Rs.1000 on 10:30 AM, Monday the 1st, NO CHANGE will happen for weeks on end (earlier it would take months, so arguably, theres an "improvement" of sorts) with importers/distris/retailers using the excuse that "they still have stocks to sell which were bought at a higher price".

That's just how things roll in India...[DOUBLEPOST=1383645705][/DOUBLEPOST]
Thank God i was gonna go 670 sli and jsut arond 780ti :p
is it worth to w8 for 780ti ?

The 780Ti is listed at a $700 price point. Going by how Indian importers/Distri's tend to price "high end" parts, that would translate anywhere between Rs. 55-70k landed in India. If you feel that's good VFM, then wait for it. Personally, I don't think it is...

^ Ah I see what you mean. You read the title of my post and possibly assumed I meant the prices had been slashed in India.

Sorry about not being clear about that. I was referring to prices abroad, which is why my initial post mentions the prices in Dollars and not Rupees. Price cuts abroad take anywhere from a week to several before they reflect in India for reasons I mentioned in my above post. Indian importers/distri's are extremely lethargic when it comes to dropping product prices.

In any case, the 780 has had price drops in India. However I'm not sure if these cuts were before or after the recent Nvidia price revision down to $499. I'm hoping they were from before. Here are some current 780 prices from an Indian online retailer purely FYI -

ASUS GRAPHICS CARD GTX 780 3GB DDR5------------------------Launch Price-Rs.60,195-----Current Price-52,525
ASUS GRAPHICS CARD GTX 780 3GB DDR5 DC II OC------------Launch Price-Rs.78,750-----Current Price-54,999
ZOTAC GRAPHICS CARD GTX 780 3GB DDR5----------------------Launch Price-Rs.49,000-----Current Price-50,500 (it possibly went up when the Rs. plummeted vs. the $)
ZOTAC GRAPHICS CARD GTX 780 3GB DDR5 AMP EDITION--Launch Price-Rs.59,999-----Current Price-52,999

The cheapest 780 I know of in India ATM is the Galaxy NVIDIA GTX 780 GC 3GB for Rs.49,996.

Going by Nvidia's revised price of $499 for the 780, I would assume the price of the 780's would revised downward to somewhere between 36-43k depending on the various custom cooling designs etc. on offer from manufacturers.

The problem with is that the R290X is already up for Pre-order with an Indian online retailer for Rs.45,999 and we already know how well the R290X fares against the vanilla 780...

^^^. I was among the first to post about the price drop for these GPU and about the release of 780 Ti. I wasn`t asking but expressing my eagerness to check the price drop.

Reviews for the 780Ti are out and as expected, Nvidia has released another great GPU.

So is the 780Ti's performance worth the $150 extra over the R290x? I would say Yes, but a lot depends on what res you game at as well. It seems overkill for standard single monitor 1080p gaming. If that's your preferred gaming res, you will find better value elsewhere.

Also remember that the 780Ti's $700 price also includes 3 games plus a $100 off coupon for Nvidia Shield if you plan on buying one. If there's one thing I was hoping for it was that this card supported 4Gb instead of 3. Cant have everything I guess...
