Manmarziyaan - 0/10

Stupid film.. Had a bad headache for the whole day yesterday.

Oh, that bad !!!
I was kind of hoping for this to be at least watchable - trailer was decent, I like some songs. damn !!

Anyway, how bad is new the Predator ?
(there's a single screen theater beside my apartment and it's showing there. Tickets are just 120. :) )

Nacho Libre - 10/10

Never seen anything so hilarious. What a laugh riot. Just that: everyone in the movie is so serious.

The Nun: 7/10
Most awaited prequel. Was eagerly awaiting for this.
Story is interesting along with nice bang sound effects & creepy music which matches perfect to the horror sequences & takes your breath away on a few occasions. Esp when it moves L-R during nun activity.

The ghostly location was perfect resembling negativity, dullness in a lost ruins place.

Its kinda mysterious one after other until the last 20mins where everything gets unveiled in most spooky & eerie manner.

There are few comedy moments as well but goes well with the humour.

Horror esp. conjuring fans will like it.

Not much into Indian movies (only watch with family, when forced to, in theatre), just stared with Netflix connection recently.

1/10 - welcome to Karachi ( fooled by Arshad Warsi as an actor , thought something good about the movie because of him). It’s so lame, 100% shittt.

3/10 - Brij Mohan Amar rahe - yet another utter disaster. Thought it would be good being a Netflix original and got fooled by those paid IMDb ratings. What a shitty movie without any story objective. Characters in the move are so week.

8/10 - secret superstar. Loved the move and regret of miss this in theatre (due to Amir Kahn was labled as anti national :) )

Andhadhun - 8/10
The movie has many ups and very few lows. Refreshing to see some offbeat elements being included.
AK's piano prowess could have been better, esp since he trained under the watchful eyes for 3 months.
Definitely the sorts to be seen at the halls. (And do not be late for the show.)
Wee bit of a regret- Damn thing had to be 'inspired' from a non-Indian movie.

Sherlock Jr. (1924) - 8.2/10
Mind boggling that the stunts and the level of professionalism existed circa 1924.
Buster Keaton absolutely deserves the fan base he has.

Scent of a Woman - 7.8/10
Al Pacino was in top form. Good little movie with a few overdone scenes.

Pushpak - 7/10
Glad to have finally picked this one up. Was a good effort overall.
The ending was a bit too laboured imo.

Raazi - 6/10
Turned it off within 15 mins of the first run. Was forced to watch it as there was no other choice in the desi category at a family dinner.

The immaturity shown throughout, the eagerness to start celebrating the feat even before they had begun telling the story was cringeworthy at kapil sharma level. More than 2 hrs and the trash they served was unfortunately something not unexpected (have started to expect the terrific fall in standards of our daily masala industry).
The lackadaisical effort possibly would have made the players in the actual story do something drastic.

Birdbox (netflix) - 4/10 : it's like "seeing" version of 'A quiet place'(Unlike making a noise, here if one "sees" that thing, they will die) . Nothing much, predictable story, dull. Avoidable.

Guilty (2018) -9/10.
Another Danish gem in the vein of Locke but stakes are much higher.
Can't remember a better thriller this year which came close to matching its intensity and that too with a single actor in a room carrying the movie on his Herculean shoulders.

Tumbbad - 9/10 finally Bollywood has woken up with some sensible true sounding horror suspense thriller with a realistic story unlike the usual fakes like raaz, ragini, haunted, 1920 etc.

October: 1/10 The worst movie of Varun with nonsense and immature very much stretched story line.

Tumbbad is an Indian movie, not a bollywood movie.

Bollywood is a where originality goes to die. Tumbbad, Masaan, Wasseypur, Court are not bollywood movies. Please don't put them next to Veere di wedding, Dabang, Race etc :angelic:
