There are frequent light outs in Thane now. In night, sometimes the light go off at around 1am for 2 hours, and thus making it impossible to sleep due to heat. Are there any rechargeable fans available in the market? Any ideas?

Assuming getting an inverter is not an option ?

A ceiling fan would blow away (pun intended) a rechargeable anyday :)

@blr_p: Getting an inverter is not an option, simply because there is too much investment.

@w1nD: awaiting the pics. What's the price, and how long does the charge last?

there are rechargeable fans .I saw small ones .don't know about their reliability.

an inverter(small one) can be a better choice.electronic spares shops many assemble one for you ?

i think you can get cheapest invertor for around 8-10k, that 'll be good option.. you 'll have lights too when electricity goes off . :p.. and yes even a small battery can run a ceiling fan for 5-6 hours easily..

Buy a sealed UPS battery ( 12V 7ah ) costs about 600 rupees. Get a batt charger, around 300-400 i guess. Get a decent nidec/delta with current rating <1amp and you're set!

7ah = 7A for one hour ~ 1A for 7 hours ;)

PS : in summertime I use a sunon 120mm 120CFM 230V AC fan myself :ashamed:
