CPU/Mobo Replacing Asus P8H67-M motherboard

I am using P8H67-M motherboard with Core-if 2400 processor. Purchased on January 29 2011. Just came to know this motherboard was called back few days later and replaced with new version.

I tried to update the BIOS yesterday, but the system is not booting now. I checked Asus web site and it says they will replace the first revision MB only until June 30 2011. Can i claim my replacement now? Will call the service center on Monday.

If they replace it, can i go for a better board by paying extra? What would be the best board in Asus range?

Even if they don't replace, i may have to replace the board as the current board is not booting and i guess i bricked the BIOS with updating the firmware to B3 revision firmware.

Are P67 boards better than H67 range? I am not a heavy games user. I do mostly programming. I will also be using VMWare, Virtual box etc.

Rashi does Asus stuff. Don't expect a RMA. Just buy a new one. That is why I tell people not to buy Asus any longer. And ya, P67 and Z68 are hugely better.

Oh dear.... another Asus problem

1] It would still be under warranty so ?

2] OP's BIOS's update did not work - so, is the mobo at fault ?

3] While it is true that most models of any manufacturer are available for 6-12 months only (before the new series troops in) - BIOS updates continue for longer periods - aint it ?

I am confused as ever

Cheers

@OP

Yes, you need to buy a graphic card. Though I suggest going for Z68 instead where you might not buy a graphic card.

And warranty is okay, but Rashi doesn't believe in that

Asus motherboards are good, but they have a high failure rate and their warranty in India is next to nothing. Gigabyte or MSI will be fine for warranty, at least compared to Asus

Whatever maybe the case you should first take the board to the respective agency which handles the warranty for your motherboard.

If you are lucky they might replace it, just tell them you were not aware of the problems in the motherboard of the B2 version, they may relent.

Do update here whatever happens.

Won't help. There is a 90% chance that it will take 1-3 months to get a replacement with a 70% chance that it still won't be repaired or he may get a lower model or just some credit. No point waiting that long. Send this for RMA if you must but just buy a new mobo at the same time

Please suggest any model in Gigabyte or MSI which has decent specs. I am not looking to have a seperate graphics card. Rather i would spend that money on more RAM.

Where are you located.

Call 1800-2090-365 and check if you have pickup and drop service in your location. Best is to take it personally to the nearest ASUS/Rashi service centre and update this thread regularly. All the best.

I called Asus support. They asked me to take the mother board to Rashi and they may replace it immediately if they have a replacement in stock. They are having issues with courier for pickup and drop service.

I bent couple of pins in the socket when packing the MB. Gave it to Rashi on Saturday.

Now they are saying Asus has to approve for replacing the MB with damaged socket.

Earlier when i used their P35 and P45 chipset motherboards it varied from 10-12 days to a month long. In future avoid Asus because of Rashi.

I got back my mother board from Rashi. It was not replaced. They just replaced the cpu socket. I guess they also loaded the latest BIOS firmware.

I rebuilt my system myself and not much issues right now. I have 3 instances of boots o/s (Windows 7 two instances + Windows 8 one instance). Monitoring the temp. using Core temp. The max i 've noticed is 57C. I also upgraded my RAM to 8GB.

The only issue I have is while starting the system after a few hours gap, BIOS is not running. It is showing a message to press F1 to enter BIOS settings. I think BIOS is getting corrupted. This is not happening during quick restarts. Should this be due to drained BIOS battery? System date is not getting reset.
