Skype Illegal in india .

A few days ago BSNL launched video calling services in india at the price of 2.5 rs/min and Unlimited for Rs.2200 . the central government is now re-examining the legality of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) features offered by Microsoft’s Skype and Google.
The Government is of the view that alike telcos and Internet service providers, global players such as Skype and Google have to share the revenue generated with government via net telephony or video calling.

Business Line : Industry & Economy / Info-tech : As debate over Net telephony rages, Govt to re-examine services offered by Skype, Google

BSNL Chief: Skype and other Video calling services are illegal in India

Skype and Google are FREE for the most part. There is no user generated revenue

Its more about the access to encrypted traffic that Skype has .. US Govt' was after it too..
Just like the RIM fiasco govt. wants access to all private communication including Voice/IM & apparently video now.

Stupid ducks.. !!

It might be the case of, some politician failed to use Skype and told himself, "if I can't then nobody will henceforth"
