symantec settings problem

recently i have been getting the foll message immediately after system boot after the desktop shows up:

Some symantec product settings have been changed by a program.this might indicate that an attacker or a virus in under work
so for safety sake the product settings will be reverted to the original settings and the system will be restarted.Click OK to continue.

now this used to happen very rarely say once a fortnight
and now this is happening once in 2-3 days.

what might be the problem and how do i solve and before i forget
i run WInXP with SP2 and have the zonealarm firewall
 
Do yourself a favor and get rid of any norton crap that you have on ur system. Then shift to something better and lighter like AVG/Kapersky/Etrust/Panda or something similar.
 
^^ i second that. norton sucks big time. full system scan took an hour on norton 2004 and it hogged all resources hasn't used any symantec product since. i use AVG presently and full system scan takes 15 min.

no it is not a licensed version!

oki guess it is time to bid adieu to norton and i wil try out the apps mentioned by chaos above
