Hi DarkAngel,

I have a 2 year old Lenovo laptop (Model- G450)with 1gb DDR3 Ram. I want to upgrade the Ram to 4gb to speed up my system. I do not have access to physical hardware stores and will be ordering from Flipkart or any other online store you'd suggest.

The thing is I do not know the Ram type that will work with my laptop. Is there any application that can give me the exact specs of my system so I could post that here for you to go through?

Please help me out.

1. That's it? My system can take only 4GB of RAM?

2. What if I buy a single 4GB RAM? Won't work?

3. If I buy a single 2GB RAM, would it work alongside my current 1GB RAM? (2+1=3GB)

Finally, would I be able to install the RAM myself? (Have done so on a PC before)

1. Yes

2. Single 4GB wont work since each slot can take only 2GB max.

3. Yes you can use 1GB in one slot and 2GB in another.

If your laptop's RAM is easily accessible then yeah you can install it. Similar to desktop installation.
 
Hey, Looking for a new rig, minus monitor.

Budget of about 15-16k. Should be able to run CAD tools and some simulation work, plus some light gaming.
