1k is too much for 6 yr old ram as new 1GB DDR1 400Mhz ram is selling @ 1250/-.
so 600-650 should be perfect.

oops didnt know new one got cheaper .. some months back i had put 512 mb on ebay as auction and they got sold at 500 each
