Hello all
I know the wise ones might suggest i should update the rig but as my real need is browsing and storage hence I am ok with my setup

I5 750
DH55TC Intel board (LGA1156)
2x2gb ddr3 ram, will upgrade to 8gb corsair in a couple of days
1gb nvidia graphics

I am thinking of upgrading the processor to the above mentioned i7 or xeon, are there any up for sale ( i know they are ooooold) or may be something similar

Also would like to add a couple of 80mn exhaust fans too..

What do you folks think... should I go ahead, what else can I do... How to go about it actually...

Thanks

I would say drop the platform altogether and move to something more modern that supports AVX2 and DDR4.

Doesn't make any sense to hold on to ddr3 platforms as they are either very buggy and susceptible to attacks due to processor flaws with no bios updates to fix them (intel) or they are very slow (amd bulldozer).

Hmmm...
For my usage what would you suggest should be the config, is anyone selling such a rig if you know of.
I really don't wish to spend too much.

do you have a SSD? If not, add one and then decide further. An SSD will seriously speed up even an old PC.
Thats what i was planning as well.
You are right
Let me find an SSD deal and then i ll update again
Thanks a bunch
