Tracking Phone for the elderly(weak memory)?

Hi there. My grandfather's memory seems to be degenerating, and since he does not live with us, we were looking for a way to track his location at any given point so that he does not get lost while doing the usual day to day activities. A GPS-phone seems like the best option, but what hardware/software combination can solve this problem? Budget is not really a constraint.

Also, I am a third year computer engineering student, so if there is any guide/tutorial I can follow to make a similar device, please mention that too.

Android+GPS+Latitude. Problem solved.

You get dedicated GPS devices for tracking. With a phone he could still misplace it. The chip on the other hand can be put into his regular footwear or some other accessory he might have on his body always.

The only problem with dedicated GPS tracking devices is that they are not in india like buddi – Protect your loved ones with a buddi. But overall considering battery life and all, feel it must be a good option.
