Thanks @ASHISH65
BTW, how good are MSI boards e.g, MSI 970A-G43? How is their after sales service?
I'm still undecided between Intel & AMD.
Is AMD FX-6300 is better than Intel i3 3220 in terms of performance?
Which one is more value for money?

> MSI is officially closed in India. Better avoid it.

> FX 6300 is more powerful than i3 3220 but for your needs, i3 3220 will suffice. Also, FX 6300 doe not have an IGP and you'll need a graphic card or motherboard with IGP (which aren't any good).

Thanks everyone. Got the following -
AMD FX-6300
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P
Corsair Vengeance 1 x 4GB
Installed and everything is working perfectly. :)

Thanks @harshilsharma63
Parts already assembled on my 5 year old cabinet. So, there's nothing to show off :p
I'll just post the prices -
  • Corsair Vengeance 1 x 4GB - INR 3041 (Flipkart)
  • Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P - INR 5748 (eBay)
  • AMD FX-6300 - INR 7239 (Snapdeal)
Also got a copy of Microsoft Windows 8.1 SL 64-bit for INR 5629 (Snapdeal)
One more thing, I've noticed that normally the CPU idles at ~35-40C but this morning after installing Windows and a couple of other apps, I noticed that the CPU temps reached above 70C for some time (monitored with Gigabyte EasyTune 5) but soon after the CPU temps seemed to be hovering around 50-55C. Is this normal? I'm using the stock cooler with pre-applied thermal paste. I'm not to such high temps. on my Intel dual core setup. Should I be worried? Thanks.

first, congrats on the purchase :)
have you applied thermal paste perfectly?

Thanks. It was pre-applied. I'd like to think it was near perfect.
The temps settled nicely. It stays within 35-45C so its okay for now.
