Sorry I am not using the buying template but need suggestions for mobo, cpu and ram as of now.

Current choose of cpu is and Ryzen 3900x but my heart is set on ryzen 3950x [emoji31]

Current ram needed is 32gb kit

Motherboard is a a confusion as I would be needing a 64gb in total in future. A faster ssd I.e gen4, sli support too.

# Purpose for build is as below:

1) Coding for web, mobile apps.
2) ML and AI.
3) Gaming and streaming it.

Budget is a bit tight but can adjust some extra case if the features are worth it.

# what will be added in future ?

1) Powerful gpu or Gpu’s
2) gen4 ssd
3) 32gb more ram

# what I have as of now, which I will use for now with current upgrade ?

1) Corsair rm750
2) noctua nh-14 aur cooler
3) nivida 760 oc edition from ASUS
4) 1tb mx500 ssd

Budget -120K

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X -69k
Asrock X570 Taichi Premium -27k
G.Skill TridentZ RGB 32GB(4x8GB) 4000Mhz -23k
Total -119k

As per you, is the price for ryzen 3950x justifiable. Like it’s a 24k difference. Also as I told I need to add 64 gb in total in future so 16gb x 2 32gb is what currently I am looking at.

If you want to run 64 GB, the CPU mostly won't do anything more than 3200 MHz so don't waste money on really fast ram kits. I am running a 3950x with 64 gigs and it maxes out at around 1700 MHz fclk. Anything more isn't stable for serious work. Personally, I have left the ram at 3200 MHz and fclk at 1600 as I require 100% stability.

As for the 3900x vs 3950x debate, if you are even one bit budget constrained, get the 3900x. The extra four cores for 24k more makes no sense. When I got the 3950x, 3900x was out of stock every where and it cost 55k. So 13k extra was worth it.

Woh that's nice inside from someone using it in personal.

I had that same thing on my mind. If price gap was not that much, i would definitely choose the 3950x but 24k is just too expensive i suppose and don't make sense.

So 3900x is what i will go for. It should be sufficient for even rendering some videos and streaming i suppose.

What motherboard you bought ?

Also will i not be able to oc ram to 4000mhz or default 3600mhz if i bought the ram with that mhz ?
For one year 32gb is what i will use.

For gpu also waiting for rtx 3000 series or navi gen 2.

I am running my old crosshair vi hero. Haven't upgraded my motherboard as am4 will soon be a dead platform when ddr5 arrives. If you wish to save money just buy 3200cl16 16GB ram sticks.

I was thinking to buy those and overclocking, don't know how well the 3200mhz will overclock [emoji28]

I'm running a 3900x + 64GB RAM config, @Chaos is right, RAM won't OC beyond a point on most mobos with dual rank, 4 stick configuration.
My b450m Aorus can manage 3000mhz only, no more.

Plus, 3900x is plenty good for rendering and editing 4-6K videos. Heck, a 2700x will cut through 4K videos like butter.

I am running Ryzen 5 3600 at stock speed and my RAM at its stock speed of 3600Mhz (G.Skill Sniper 3600Mhz 16GB Kit)
That is why I suggested 4000Mhz RAM kit for you since you are running 3950X.

You are running 2 single rank sticks. These are way easier on the memory controller and 3600 will run effortlessly. However the equation changes when you have dual rank and especially dual rank + 4 dimms. Anyone buying a 3950x will need a lot of ram if they are doing development, rendering, photo/video editing as 16GB is peanuts these days.

Anything beyond 3600 is pointless on Ryzen as most CPUs can't run 1:1 IF:RAM at anything more than 1800 fclk. If you run 1:2 at higher clocks, you are effectively slowing down the CPU.

The difference here is running 4 x 16GB (dual rank) configuration. Most mobos can't hit high speeds with both quantity (64GB) and speed.

I think the difference is of 3k to 4k for the 3200mhz and 3600mhz sticks. Plus as to think i will upgrade the system in 3 to 4 years timeframe. So 32gb should be sufficient for current scenario. Even for gpu i will go for 2 gpu at max. Is their a way to cut cost without sacrificing the features of performance ?

What i think i should go for is as below:

1) amd ryzen 3900x
2) x570 mobo which is as good as taichi for 2 GPUs or i will go for taichi or equivalent Mobo.
3) ram, i suppose 32gb 3600mhz cl16 ram or cl18 where i can tighten the timing. Gskill trident neo may be or even cheaper option as RGB is not compulsory for me. Performance is.

Hey guys, if I go for ASUS tuf x570 for around 16k, what do I miss in comparison to as rock taichi x570 ?
