PC Peripherals Urgent !!! Suggestions for a printer/scanner combo and price

Need to buy a printer which also has a scanner by evening. Main usage for printing out lots of pages..plan to print out books. Not much of image printing but it will be there occasionally. Scanner needed.

Any recommendations? Should I go for inkjet or laser printer? My bro says that inkjet will not be good if I want to print out books. Is that the case?

Budget is 7k max.

Get the HP p1007 laserjet for 5500 and then get yourself a flatbed scanner around 1.5k.

Obviously, inkjet isnt recommended in this case. Pros n cons:

-Slow, noisy printing.

-Very low print quality (even when compared to laserjet in eco mode)

-Very high ink cost per page [~ Rs.7 with original cartridge, Rs. 3.50 with basic black cartridge, Rs. 2.50 for refilled cartidge (quality decreases considerably)] as compared to a laser printer [~ Rs. 0.80 per page with original toner, Rs. 0.40 per page with refilled toner]

+Cheap initial cost

+Colored prints
