Camera [URGENT]:Transfering videos from Sony DVD Handycam

How can one transfer videos from a Sony DVD handycam. The ImageMixer software that comes along with the handycam says 'The format is not supported' but I can see the videos in the disc on the handycam.

Any other way to transfer the videos ?

I've not much Idea and I might be way off on this, but just a thought, have u all the codecs installed?

Codecs shouldnt matter, but finally I was able to finalize the DVDs on the handycam itself and copy from those DVDs using a regular DVD drive.
