Which IDE for workin in java??

we, in colg lab type the program in notepads and save it in java format and use cmd to compile and run it............some ide cald j2dk

yeah,..that's what we do in college as well,..

as for a good ide,..eclipse is portable,..but i prefer netbeans because of it's similarity to visual studio. since i have programmed in it before,..i feel comfortable with the interface.
