Storage Solutions Which optical drive to get?

LG eyes closed.

Sony has problems with cheap DVD brands and also conks out with little dust accumulation.

My old PC had a LG DVD RAM which ran flawlessly churning out backup dvds through 4 years of college(had only a 160 GB HDD back then

)

My current two desktops are also running LG DVD RAMs.

LG / Samsung OEM pieces are appropriate for your usage, Sire.

I have used both and they both perform just fine, there is not a great performance difference as the DVD optical format has saturated its performance with current set-up. Get whichever you can get for cheap.

Hope this help, Cheers!!

[OT]LG stands for Lucky Goldstar not Life's Good as was advertised heavily in the country!

No one has seen those Goldstar VCRs and tapes?[/OT]

LG uses HITACHI made drives. Many of my friends have LG's DVD-RWs that are still going strong after 4 years of usage.

Some features like error test and Quality tests are not available in LG drives. But these features are good only for Media scans benchmarking and serve no real purpose.

O/T LG is actually only part of the whole abbr. whihc is PLGL (Perfect Lucky Goldstar Ltd.)
