PC Peripherals Which Power Supply should I buy?

Adept
I will be buying a rig soon and need to decide on the power supply.

AMD Phenom II 955BE
Asus M4A78T-E
2x2GB DDR3
GTX260-216 or similar card.
Asus Xonar Sound Card.
2 HDDs
1 DVD writer
I am currently thinking about getting a Corsair VX550W. Can I manage with a VX450 or do I need a VX650? Are there any other brands which I should be looking at?

i would sat TX750 one time investment.. even later on u dont need to worry if u upgrade also.. or change any parts and higher end psu prices doesnt go down !!! so better buy more watts psu

VX450 will handle your rig very comfortably. But if you can extend your budget, get the HX520(if available) or VX550 for future upgrades like adding HDDs etc.

Additional thought for graphics card:

You can also wait for DX11 cards as you haven't bought your rig yet. The ATI HD 5850 should be like 12-13k. :)

Coolermaster Real Power Pro 460W 3.6k, VX 550 5.5k, GP 650w ~4.3k
VX 450-not worth @4k CM RP does the same/better job with 5 yrs warranty.

Vx450 won't be enough. Go with vx550 atleast. And if possible then try to get tx750 as it will be better for future upgrades. But u won't be able to sli in tx750 too. So if u have any plan of sli-ing then go with atleast 850w amps.

CM RP 460w is sufficient for this rig. But its better to go for VX 550 or HX 620 for Dual GPU config....u can DUAL SLI/CF almost anything on hX 620.(except ultra high end GPUs)

850w is for quad SLI and CF....not worth.

Yea but just keep in mind:

Any comparison of voltage ripple characteristics of CM RP460w with VX450?

VX450 is known to have the best voltage-ripple/noise suppression characteristics in its class

And this thing matters ALOT to say the least. IT matters way more than efficiency figures etc.

Regarding the 5year warranty which both PSU carry, think CM can beat Corsair A.S.S.?

It has been the best here too

How many reviews are present for RP460W? Anything to assure the buyer that the investment is safe, tried, tested and trusted?

Couldnt find many reviews on 460w, while a tonne of 10/10 reviews for VX450

Corsair VX550 or TX650 (best choice imho)

Corsairs are off highest quality and pretty responsive in customercare.
I am aware of how shoddy Cooler Master warranty can be, so dont bother
