Windows Media Player blues :(

Haha, though I dont use WMP (almost never, ever since MPlayer), however, I like to have things working properly on my comp.

And this is a very peculiar problem.

Whenever I play MP3 files, just at the begining (or whenver I slide te track forward/backward) the track playing speed fluctuates from slowing down to fastening up.
Almost like tape players with speed control. You know, the pitch goes down, when it plays slower, and pitch goes up when it plays faster.

That happens for few seconds, then it seems to stabilize.

Surprsingly, the thing didnot happen with OGG files.
This problem was happenign in WMP10 as well as WMP11 now.
Any clues?

Is it codec problem?

That's new. What other media players have you got besides WMP and Mplayer?

Have you tried RE-Installing WMP?

Though if this is a codec related issue, you can try installing the lame mp3 codec, it might fix it.

I used to have VLC (that I uninstalled long back), winamp (uninstalled long back), foobar (still very much there).

I guess thats all.

This problme was there even when all players (even the ones I have uninstalled) were present.

Lemme try uninstalling WMP and re-installing. :) I'll bump this topic again.

nope nothign happened.

Hasnt anyone else experienced it??

I rolled back to WMP10, the problem was there.
RE-installed teh WMP11, problme still there.

Surprisingly, am not facing this problem at my office PC.
