Finally got some time today to post this and enter into this contest. Here's the whole thing
Well, everybody who knows me well know how bad maintainer I am
I am damn lazy to clean the stuff and maintain it quite well
Everyone keeps saying me about this everyday (especially mom when she enteres my room and see the mess). My Computer table, Cupboard are always messed. Some of you guys might know I recently purchased a new Rig (will post a specification below), TE members helped me in getting all the stuff in this thread (
http://www.techencla...t-rig-rs45-50k/). Again, because of my indolence I skipped the show off part. I had a damn good rig but I was not that interested in showing off the stuff
ONLY BECAUSE MY CABLE MANAGEMENT SKILLS SUCKS.
Well, I saw this thread and even replied couple of days before and decided to put some efforts and do something creative. I decided to work on this today (Sunday). I called it "
An Idiot's Cable Management Attempt"
Coming back to Cable Management stuff -
Here's my Rig specification :
Processor : Intel Core i5 2500k
Motherboard : Asus P8P67 B3
GPU : MSI N560GTX Ti TFII
Ram : G.Skill RipJaws 4x2GB 1600MHz
PSU : SeaSonic S12 II 620W
HDD : WD 1TB Green + WD 500GB Blue + WD 80GB (Don't know, use it as spare)
Cabinet : NZXT Gamma (Pretty small for Cable management purpose)
Well, Gamma isn't that big to hide all cables, if we try to keep all the cables behind motherboard mounting plate, Cabinet Panel won't fit. But still I tried my best.
Cabinet was so clean from inside, I didn't really have to clean but I did it with a cloth and blower
BEFORE CABLE MANAGEMENT ATTEMPT -
After Cable management attempt :
Before and After : Compared
Where are the excess cables?
Well my SMPS isn't modular so I have to deal with excess cables which I don't use. I actually read the stuff regarding covering / hiding cables in OP. I remembered I had a dead SMPS (POV Black Diamond 500w) in my cupboard. I disassembled it, I just wanted that metal box to cover cable and stuff.
About Motherboard power cable - My cabinet isn't that big so I don't have large space behind motherboard mounting panel. Also I don't have top clearance to route cable from there so I had to route it underneath graphics card. That was very tricky part though.
I cut one side of top cover (Near earthing point) with the help of hammer and chisel as I don't have metal cutter in home. But they did the job well.. Cost -> Couple of hammers on my thumb.
Base of SMPS with fan mounted on it (Did not use this)
This is the top cover of SMPS with one side cut.
Used above SMPS cover as Cable container (Showed in Picture below)

Damages and Cost :
2 cuts on both Index fingers and couple of hammers on thumb while cutting out that SMPS cover.
But that's worth it, the satisfaction and effort finally paid me off. Cabinet looks clean, and SEXY
(Except that stock HSF which looks aweful
)
What I achieved :
A good way of spending some weekend hours. Helped me to achieve at least little amount of better management technique
Reason for Entering this contest :
Well, you can see, everyone out here has that one thing except me
The Cooler. My superb OC Rig is still surviving on HSF
Shameful...
Regards,
Rahul
