Depending on your preferences you most likely fall into the 'good news', 'alright whatever' or 'bad news' camp.

We are moving back to vbulletin!

Ideally we wanted to stay on IPB as we feel that it is a feature rich software, however it does not stand up to the search engine tests even after multiple enhancements by their developers. Nevertheless if we are to remain the most active and most popular tech forum in India then we must focus on search engine visibility as well.

We will be doing this migration on this weekend starting either Friday late night or on Saturday late night. The whole process will take about 24 hours.

We know how frustrating it gets when TE is down so the plan is NOT to close down TE during that period, however we will restrict posting to only test drive section. So that everyone can browse and do chit chat while the migration is going on.

IPB is so feature rich, but I won't mind going back to vBulletin either. I hope Rig Gallery, Garage will be intact on vB as well. I loved those features.

old is gold

Same here, I am vB user (End user as well as Forum manager) since vBulletin Gold (v3.0). Honestly, it is the best forum software anyone can get out of the box. IPB has many many modifications and cosmetic add-on though.

Tapatalk is working on IPB too.

Well, it doesn't work for me either. May be because the special characters I have in my username, Tapatalk won't let me login. It says "Invalid user and pass"

Give XF a try. That is THE best forum software out of the box in the market as of now and in every damn thing. Too bad that they are still struggling with the lawsuit and all.

Yippee. Tapatalk integration will be back too, right

If it doesnt work for you now then it might not even work for you after the migration.

Yeah, even beta releases were awesome

(We have it installed on DarkyROM forums) It had to be the best, it is developed by vB lead coders

Lawsuits is the only reason why I didn't mentioned XF here, we never know if XF will get updates in future or not.

Oops, that's bad. Reporting to Tapatalk right now.

Lol. I remember that Tapatalk had stopped working when the transition was made. Never knew it had started working again. Gave it a try and it is working for me.

Ok guys since you will be using it, let us know how you want the market to appear.. VB does not have a proper tags system like IPB so we can either setup prefixes or subforums.

1. Earlier setup of subforums for different category of products

2. Just one forum for FS and with only the FS prefix. There will be no categorisation by product type.

3. A separate prefix for each product type, like FS: Mobile. The drawback is that only one type of product can be listed in one thread.

If we decide to go with the 3rd option then we would need to list down all the categories we want so that I can make the different prefixes. Otherwise we can go with the current categories.
