If you are sure that meid is registered on reliance then what do you need the seller for??

you also can goto reliance and check if the meid is registered or not.

The seller hasn't provided him with the Akey and EVDO credentials. Without Akey the call will get disconnected after 2-3 seconds and without EVDO credentials, no EVDO as well.

Getting them from Reliance directly unless you have some contact would be really difficult I suppose.

Oh i didnt know he does not have the A-key. i thought he just wants to confirm whether the meid has been registered or not.

Thanks varkey for explaining the issue :)
My friend searched for the mail that he got from that registrar earlier and forwarded it to me. That seller has only sent the NV Dump File. Still waiting for A-Key.

A-key is common for all Reliance phones but for that you need to insert that key thru CDMA workshop. I can calculate A-key for you please PM me your MEID.

A-key can be changed accordingly. The checksum is based on the akey and pESN. I have already messaged him all the info he asked for.

^ Thanks, I didn't really realize that.

So in the 26 digits, the first 20 digits is always 12345678901234567890 and the other 6 digits is a checksum as you have described.

But isn't that a security problem? I mean all a person needs to clone your number would be your MEID and MIN, I was thinking Akey was a form of security but it doesn't seem that way now.

Yes, that's why I use random akey while forwarding the meid. But Thr is ssd_a and ssd_b which changes on each call I assume incase of reliance, they will be able to identify if something like this is happening.

Oh ok. So Reliance does not ask for it to be random? No standards or anything like that from their side?

AFAIK A-key as never a type of security . It was used only to match the MEID and calculate it.

Yes all you need to clone is the MEID and MIN.

But i think even knowing just the MEID would be sufficient.

Even if you know min and meid, you won't be able to make calls. A-Key is indeed a type of secured key, it can be random too.

A-key *is* a very important security parameter in a CDMA system, it is called Authentication Key for a reason. It should ideally be set through OTA programming and there shouldn't be any user intervention.

Security of the A-Key is the most important component of CDMA 2000 1xRTT system.

Just knowing the MEID won't make any difference, you still need to know the person's MIN along with the Akey (but in Reliance's case its easily calculated)

It should be randomly generated and pushed to the phone at the time of OTAP, but it is not happening that way!

Once again thanks a lot Kanishk. The handset is able to make and receive calls/sms without any problem. :)
Evdo is still to be activated and I know that too will work as you have provided with Evdo username and password also. :)

Is this even needed? I got what is called an Open Market Handset, had nothing to do with Reliance, popped in my OMH CDMA SIM and was good to go.(have to get a OMH SIM, cost about Rs 25)

If you read the OP, it is clearly mentioned that this is needed for imported CDMA handsets which doesn't have any sim slot. OMH handsets are only available in some countries and so the omh sim cards :)
