Market Feedback What happened to my sale thread?

According to rules of TE marketplace, you are not allowed to sell for profit. You mentioned the reason as 'Bought for resale' and hence the thread was closed.

@JMP , absurd yes, but its the rule we have to follow, I know of many instances where people sell ( and currently are selling for profit/resale) but its upto to the mods to decide. After all who Am i to say anything. Just another ordinary member

I agree. Maybe they don't want the market section flooded - or its a way to keep dealers section(TE income ?) & market seperate I suppose...

^ One of the market mods raised the issue that buying for reselling is not permitted so it was deleted for that reason. @chetansha had PMed us about another member doing the same recently for which action had been taken, so I assumed he would know that its not allowed :)

^ Yeah as in the earlier case, report these threads where this is happening so the market mods can take action.

First things first, I am only writing this out of curiosity and I don't want to come across as arrogant or anything.
I also wanted to say that I have sold many phones over here for profit, but as JMP said above I always try to price the products at very genuine prices. Some members have, in the past few weeks, bought stuff from me without me creating a sale thread or in JMP's case without even seeing a photograph. For me the decorum of the forum is very important and that is why I have decided not to sell any stuff over here unless it is genuinely something personal. Having said that I do feel, from the responses I have got recently, that some members don't mind paying a little extra to a trusted member so that they don't get involved in the hassles of importing, etc and get the product within 3 days instead of the week long wait that usually accompanies such purchases and I don't mind losing a few quid from my profit because I genuinely feel a sense of brotherhood and camaraderie with my TE mates.
I understand that from your perspective that you want the forum to be more about content and discussions than the marketplace. From my own experience I can tell you with surety that the Marketplace and the presently lacklustre Dealer section are actually big crowd-pullers and the people who are genuinely interested in the discussions stick around, like I did.
I am not asking you to even consider changing the rule as that was not the reason behind my rant. I just wanted to share my 2 cents.

True. I agree.

And yet there are others who continue to sell for profit , even after being warned by mods for the first time , they list again and despite reporting no action is being taken. :wideyed:

Actually it's not a rule per se but a guideline to deter second hand goods dealers. Everyone wants some profit or best possible price to put it euphemistically. It will sound absurd if we look at it as a rule. The seller can price his 10K handset at 20K if he so desires. The community is of course there to put sense back into it.

Let us discuss this internally and come back to it.

I am not for or against the rule or guidelines. One member sells despite warnings and his thread is not trashed..whereas some threads are thrashed without warning
So let it apply for all .
