Atria Convergence Technologies, which is controlled by India Value Fund Advisors, has hiked its stake in Beam Telecom to 80 per cent and intends to fully acquire it soon. Atria has acquired additional 20 per cent stake of the promoters of Beam Telecom and has an agreement to buy out their residuary stake in the Hyderabad-based broadband company.

Some Insights:
Looks like the entire deal went for 700+ Crores.
ACT revenue mostly could have clocked over 400+ Crores FY-14

Beam telecom could be ACT broadband anytime. If you are thinking what's there to wonder? Don't expect Speed bumps at regular intervals and expect Poor post FUP plans which ACT offers for bangalore or Chennai right now.

If Such pathetic broadband plans come from Ex-Beam in future, there would be no competition in hyderabad

Game over anytime soon.
  • Atria Convergence Technologies had recently hiked its stake in Beam Telecom to 80 per cent with the intention of fully acquiring it soon. It had raised Rs 180 crore (Rs 1.8 billion) of debt to fund 20 per cent addition stake acquisition.
  • We will be able to add 200,000 subscribers in Hyderabad

If they sell 256/512kbps plans for 800Bucks, no one in hyderabad will buy. Forget 2lakh potential customers

They already have 80% stake in beam and so they are already in control. So If they wanted, they could have put in their "poor plans" by now.
In any case, they cannot degrade plans that people have already subscribed to. Beam has always advertised their post FUP speeds as well for each plan, so I don't think they can change that for existing plans.

^ Last year when Hyderabad went for upgrade ACT had 60% state that's like a half ownership. Initial promoters are clearly for Good plans, you have been getting value for what you are paying.
I am not doubting beam Post FUP speeds offering till now but After 2 or 3 months that won't be the case. They will surely offer some nasty plans, since you look at ACT's way of Ripping customers after meeting their initial customer targets.
I am following this company since its inception and track their financials. Sorry to say but the old Beam won't stay the same way it used to be from past 4 years. :arghh:

ACT too is going the Airtel way! I dont know who is next!
ACT went the airtel way already a year back. These crazy money minded scumbags are taking a leaf from Craptel's books.
Few people here think i am posting some useless stuff, Well they will realize soon after witnessing the reality :)

ACT takes over BEAM and now my FUP limit got increased from 50GB to 60GB...
From 1-8-14 onwards...

Your package details
Username : xxxxx@gmail.com
Account ID : xxxxxx
Subscribed Speed / Pkg : 15 Mbps / B-MAX1110 Upgrade
Usage: 0.11 GB (Quota 60.00 GB)
FUP Status : Not Reached
FUP reset date : 1st of Every Month.

IS this really a Speed upgrade? These idiots tried to give BSNL Tariffs a Edge.

Beam Gets a Gibabyte for less than Rs.2, They should have given Good FUP like 80 Gb instead of throwing a bisket for barking customers which they treat like dogs.
Assuming they sell wish to sell a Gb for Rs.8 >> 8*60gb = 480 + 350 for that average 70-80 Gb post FUP @ 2Mbps = ~ 800 Rupees.
Instead they could have done 8*80 = ~ 650 + 350 for the average 70-80 Gb Post FUP @ 2Mbps = ~ 999 + S.T > Justified.

I know they are here to do business, but seriously bandwidth prices are falling heavily and they're getting a GB for ~ Rs 1.7 +p2p Caching+ Youtube caching.

They should have at least cared about users who want good FUP in this growing HD world.

End of the day its ACT anyway.

According to NTP 2015 2012, Minimum speeds have to be 2mbps from 2015 irrespective of what the post FUP is. So yes there would be a speed upgrade again in coming months. After full acquisition then you will See Real ACT, I bet.

^That won't happen. since you're likely to use at least 120-150 Gb per month because Speeds are the same throughout the month.
They won't able to earn 1000 Crores by next year :p

Lousy !!

What did i say ? B***h :D

“As part of our overall group plan, we wanted to create a national brand and bring all our services under it. In all cities (except Hyderabad) that we operate in, our company works under ACT brand. In Hyderabad, the largest market for our broadband service, we are known as Beam. As our company goes national, we want to bring all our products under the common brand, ACT Fibernet," said ACT CEO Bala Malladi.
4 years elation.. Party to end Soon!

I will still welcome these plans with both arms wide open. 2499 for 6Mbps post FUP is more than enough for me considering I pay 1350 for 1Mbps right now.

^ But Seriously Do you think such plans will continue? Bangalore and Chennai customers will ask for same plans. They are already angry on ACT for maintaining BSNL like stand.
