Android (MIUI) Mi 4i Proximity Sensor Issue!!

Guys,
I guess I'm encountering a proximity sensor issue with my Mi 4i which is not functioning as normal during calls. When I'm in a conversation, the phone screen does not turn off immediately and always on. I have to press the power button to get off the screen to avoid accident press during conversation. After the conversation, the screen does not backlit up, so you can't press end call. I have to press the power button again to wake up and end the call. My understanding is this might be a proximity sensor issue.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be? If this is a proximity sensor issue is there a way to fix like recalibrate? or is this any kind of hardware issue where I need to replace this device?
Any Mi 4i users have the similar problem and got it fixed? HELP!!
 
I'd say the first thing to do is wipe the cache from the recovery menu and if your problem still persists try wiping data and cache and reinstall the rom . If all fails then go to the service centre .
 
This may not be a hardware issue I the same issue cropped up on Mi4 with update 6.5.1.0
The same seems to have fixed on Mi4 with update 6.5.3.0 (Today). Do note that this issue did not exist prior to 6.5.1.0 on Mi4

Wow thats great news. So I might expect the same can be resolved with an update. But one question, before posting here I checked in few forums where other Mi 4i users were confirming that it works normal for them and some users had the similar problem like me. So how is that possible?
