Forum Feedback Petition to move TE Forum to an Indian server!

Why?
  • Poor Organic Search Results: Some appear in 61-70, Some in 110-120 Google Results. More traffic will be generated towards TE if moved to Indian servers.
  • Faster access: TE Users can access up to at least 10X faster. Even though the forum pages are very light.
  • Save Intl bandwidth or promote Domestic bandwidth: International bandwidth costs almost 10 times more to some Small ISP's. So even though data consumed towards TE is very little, It shall be the start for the Good.
  • Cable Cuts will be a thing of the past: Re-routing will make pages load slower.
  • Stop paying Hosting fees in Fluctuating USD/EURO.. Indian Rupees please.
Recently even TeamBHP moved to E2E and TelecomTalk to DigitalOcean and their Traffic spiked up like anything.

Digital Ocean and E2E networks will the best one's to look forward. @Crazy_Eddy @Renegade

Created thread for the better TE, If you guys wanna save money.. Go ahead. :facepalm:

We don't discuss or host piracy or p0rn or anything criminal in nature.

So nothing to worry. This is really funny part getting pinched by Indian laws!. How are the other forums or the blogs are running then? Didn't expect such noobish Comment from @booo

@mathewvp They have DC in Bangalore. Accepts USD.

But seriously hosting overseas is so Y2k-ish. Except for saving no one will do that.

I think it should be moved to India, mainly for faster page loads. We were planning to shift our main server to a DC as well, but cancelled due to bandwidth and maintenance issues.

Coming to SLAs and others there are almost zero issues.

Make in India, Host in India :P

- See this is the thing, Everyone becomes a privacy advocate. This fear is really unnecessary.
- Community intended for Indian traffic is being hosted in UK. Anyway if the data from Alexa is true, then it should stay in UK. Just 60% of traffic from India. Also, these stats might change to 90% Indian traffic once it moves to India due to organic Indian traffic.

- Save international bandwidth. Yes. Promote Domestic bandwidth. Legal Indian websites needs to be in India, accessible faster to Indian traffic. My ask is reasonable.


This power cut issues & SLA part are so decade old arguments . Our DC's are on par with International one's.
 
Actually, what @swatkats is trying to point out is that by hosting in India, with an increase in number of sites, we can get more ISPs for increasing their peering. It actually is a cause effect in reverse.

This is one of the reason. I've no personal gain if TE gains or loses. It's up to the people who manage the forum.

Unless you are running forum like Xossip, you got nothing to worry. I've been with Indian web hosting for the last 6yrs, never seen any takedown requests for legal content.

There's a reason why Indian forums like TeamBHP moved their hosting to India.

its not just about takedown notices and blocking orders. its about ip addresses and personal details too. If the data is hosted out side the country borders they cant do anything about it.

I look at it like this; Indian site targeting Indians should be hosted outside India, American site targeting Americans should be hosted outside America.

@swatkats really...? :eek: you think online privacy is unnecessary?

Freedom of speech, Privacy, NSA, Prism. Hahhaha. Here i was thinking to increase Organic traffic for TE.

Maybe TBHP and TT moved because they got some good deals from DO and E2E - maybe some discounts and/or co-branding/advertising deal. I'm sure if TE got an opportunity to move at a decent rate they would do so.
 
Because mods don't Admin the server :P

In any case Renegade said he's already been thinking about it, but hasn't had time to do so yet.
