Reliance Jio Rollout

Anybody here knows how (or when it may apply) to use the full talk time Top-Up Plans for Jio Prepaid Users?

How can someone able to use this plans if they recharge by mistake.

To be very honest, I've been thinking of not going for Jio Gigafiber. I'm afraid this cheap broadband-high speed service, might be a Huge Data mine for Mr.Ambani who is always good at working with the Govt's.

I might try to bargain with my ISP when it actually launches. #Paranoid
Agree with you in any case local competitors will never get sustain in market..
They change India ;)

on jio.com, log in with your sim number,
choose voucher plan and you can pay with main balance.
Main balance needs to be equal/more than voucher price.

No one uses FTTH. Bsnl Broadband is the real deal that has access to most of India. Compared to that FTTH is 0.001%.
Hence they crippled the broadband for motabhai
Only in Mumbai and may be in Delhi no BSNL.. Only MTNL
And they have same old expensive plans 6-7+ Mbps at 600-700+ on telephone cable. FTTH plans costs even more.

Asking on behalf of my friend - He has few days ago bought Jio Fiber along with setup box with plan of 150Mbps (Rs. 999). Now he wants additional setup box which Jio customer said will cost approx 5k non-refundable and has also asked to upgrade to higher plan as current 150Mbps plan wont suffice for 2 connections. Does he have to really upgrade or 2 STB can run fine on 150 speed?

check feasibility of getting another new connection.

No need to upgrade. I'm using 2 stb on 30Mbps plan (₹ 399). 1 i got with my home connection and other one from shop's connection. Having separate subscription for Amazon prime and Netflix so doesn't need their ₹999 plan. No problem till now.

Even 3 STBs can run fine on 150 Mbps let alone 2. 150 Mbps is overkill for most households.

Instead of paying 5k for just the STB, why not get another connection at the same location and don't recharge after the trial.
Keep the STB. Though I would anyday recommend Firestick 4K over Jio STB if you are eager to spend 5k.

I have a Rs 999/- Plan enabled and planning to buy an additional STB for my second TV. Jio engineer suggested booking a new connection and he will provide me a router and an STB, but he will not active the broadband so that I can connect the STB to my current jio service and use it in my room.

Anybody tried this option? Also, query for people having the second STB. Do we have to pay any additional charge for the OTT Apps on the second STB or its free?

Didn't understand this option. New connection with router+stb means you have to pay for it, both the deposit+installation and then monthly. So why not use the connection itself instead of piggybacking on the first one?

Or did he mean you only have to pay installation+deposit and because he's not activating the connection, no monthly charges? Their cheapest plan is still 399/month (+tax) right?

The new STB costs Rs. 3999/-.

He suggested paying Rs. 2500/-. He will book a new connection in my name and give router + STB but he will not activate the broadband connection as such. So no rental payment needed. STB is just another passive device and can work with any Jio Fiber connection.

My assumption is he will book a new connection with a trial period of 30 days He will not do cabling etc. After a month if I don't recharge and continue using my STB with the existing Jio Fiber connection.

Dunno if they will actually let you do all that and if it will work the way he says. If you really trust the guy then maybe...

Also, all STBs, do some kind of authentication i think. Even the 'passive' ones used by cable operators long ago. With a chip smart card. And the jio stb will probably only work if authenticated to a userid/connection. Not sure about this. But based on how the jiotv etc apps used to work...

Terrible aftersales service for Jio in my area. It's been 3-4 months since a relative registered some complaints and no network engineer has shown up till now despite the msgs from Jio saying they will. Direct calls to Jio employees aren't entertained and they keep saying a customer has to call the customer care first and then cs will let them know. But the same company gives direct phone numbers of employees for new connections. Yet they don't do that for fixing their network. F'd up service. Almost reminded me of my Tikona experience.
How much does a meter of Ethernet cat5 cable costs locally there? Jio is asking for 30rs a meter.
