The New Flagship: Ryzen 9 3950X

But 3200g is a second gen zen+ cpu which does not require BIOS update on b450 mobo, right?

So primeabgb updated the BIOS for you before shipping the board? was the mobo box packaging in open state then?

oh sorry , somehow missed reading the last posts that you guys got it in-store...

Afaik ryzen 3rd gen even if its zen+, requires bios update

Yes, bought it instore, and opened the box myself and they did the update in front of me

Good news for guys with selected Asus B450/X470 mobos as some of them will get PCIE Gen4.

On another note Intel seems to have been caught with their pants down. All the tasty 10th gen Comet Lake CPUs that were leaked a couple of days back seem to be launching on Q1 2020. AMD has the full reign of the market till then and all Intel can do is price cuts.
I knew the situation was bad for Intel but I didn't expect it to be this bad as Intel always counterattacked pretty well when under attack.

Moreover i3 and i5 models will have hyperthreading enabled and the 10th gen CPUs will share the same socket with the 10nm Ice Lake CPUs to launch on Q3 2020. No socket change shenanigans this time eh Intel....

So overall its a good year for consumers as competition from AMD is forcing Intel to do stuff they never would(especially HT on i3/5).

However Comet Lake will use the same tired old 14 nm nodes so expect power draw to be even worse than 9th gen CPUs.

Take a loot at this video from the VRM nut for suggestions on which mobos to buy for 3rd gen.

We can expect next version of Ryzen in 2020 and I don't think Intel will have any answer for those as well, either in 2020 or 2021.

Intel got lazy and greedy and now they're gonna have some tough couple of years.

Of course they'll resort to colluding with other manufacturers to put their CPUs in laptops, desktops, servers etc. Wouldn't be a first time when they did that.

AMD doesn't even compete in the laptop market(except for the budget/mid-range end) and AMD mobile APUs are a tad behind Intel in terms of battery usage.
Dell will be the Vodafone pug for Intel as expected.

But in enterprise Intel has a tough fight ahead. The main asks in servers are multi threaded performance and security and Intel is behind AMD on both fronts.

Pre-built dekstops are not a big market anyways today. But I still think Intel will come out swinging in 2 years and hit AMD pretty hard.

On another note now that we are at 7 nm and TSMC is prepping their 5 nm node which has 80% higher transistor density than TSMC 7nm (used by Zen2) where do we go from here?

1 nm is approaching pretty fast and traditional process shrinks will be impossible a few years from now.

People looking for X570 boards check out this offer-

Free Cooler Master 240 mm AIO cooler with some MSI mobos(And not all of them are uber-expensive)

Say hello to my little friend.

Nice. I'll get mine on Thursday or Friday.
I will be installing mine over the weekend. Asus with its crappy BIOS updates will be a PITA to get the CPU running without error code 07.

The ROG Crosshair VI Hero is still on a crappy BIOS 7201 which is still AGESA 1.0.02 and that too with a multitude of issues.

What mobo are you using?

Haha lets see. Price of saving money i guess :p

Got 3900x, H115i Platinum RGB, G502 Hero and 970 evo plus today. Should get case/motherboard/hdd by friday and keyboard/ram hopefully by monday. Excited. My 2nd gaming build after 5 years. My 4790k has served me well, still is super (ノ゚0゚)ノ

Would have loved to gwt it all by friday/sat and build on the weekend.

Did you see any reports regarding failures for the H115i?

I am too looking at AIOs since I am not sure about my existing Noctua NH-U12S for the 12 core chip.
