I'll be based in Delhi or Kolkata for next 3-4 years hopefully. The support part is worrying.
After going through specs and few reviews, two things are better in this one than the Thinkpad -
1) Weight - easy 400 gms lighter - which is your first priority.
2) Better display - Though sRGB coverage is similar, MSI's display is much brighter at 350 nits
..but then there are two shortcomings as well
1) a premium of ₹5k over thinkpad, which is justified imo
2) Service support - as you'll be based in Delhi or Kolkata, there should be service centres at both places. Check their review once on Google. Take the max extended warranty.
IMO, MSI's bad reviews are due to scant number of service centres. In case anything faults, you have to be vigil and pursue them on Twitter or coordinate with the MSI Rep on Reddit etc to get the issue resolved and it may take a month to sort out, at worst.
..but then its your call if you are ready to face the music if anything goes south. Otherwise, you should only stick to HP, Dell or Asus.
Lenovo would be similar to MSI too but I bought the Thinkpad coz there was no better option in my budget and I am prepared to face the music when time comes.
