Do USB WiFi Antenna actually work and will I see better WiFi Reception?

I have a Lenovo Laptop whose screen was removed since it stopped working. This is when I found that usually with laptops, the WiFi card is on motherboard and have an antenna cable that runs to the screen and till the top, almost near the webcam.
But now, the same cable is just folded (still connected to the WiFi chip / card on motherboard and put in place using tape.
Due to this, it seems the WiFi reception on the laptop is not great always, it sometimes will not detect the WiFi signal in inner part of house and will only detect the one which is nearest router (I have 2 routers at home).

I am contemplating buying one of those stick antenna which can be plugged into the USB port of the laptop in expectation of getting better reception. I want to know from people who may have used it, whether they really help and work? I don't want to end up spending 700-1000 Rupees and then get no noticeable improvement.

Can anyone suggest any good brand but not expensive external USB WiFi antenna?

Just get a USB wifi adapter - they are almost as cheap and guaranteed to give you better reception than an internal card with a borked antenna

yes, this will work
Although better to spend just a little more to get something that supports 5ghz too

One update on this.

I bought the TP Link USB Wifi dongle for 499 from amazon and it is was plug and play and rated at 150 Mbps. My home connection is 50 Mbps. I am not sure if it issue of the dongle or driver or what but I hardly see speeds over 20 Mbps. Speedtest or fast.com too show max 15 Mbps upload and download.
Compared to that my Macbook Air M1 which is besides that laptop shows speeds upto 54 Mbps up and down.
