Audio Audiophile and gears

Technically you do have hdmi eARC too, if you use an a/v receiver. Maybe with an av receiver you can do multi output/switching to headphones and speakers. Not sure if you can use dac/amp with hdmi arc.
The problem is I can't get a proper surround sound setup as my family will get disturbed. The only options for me are headphones/earphones. Hence I jumped on the HD 650 deal.

If a dac/amp supports eARC, then I'd be happy to run a return HDMI cable from the TV to the dac/amp on my PC desk.
Wait for others to properly answer this query, not much knowledge of US pricing and deals

- Never used any Schiit Products but I like to add if you are into design aesthetics then Combo STACK always looks good of the same manufacturer but Modi 3+ still use 4490 chip. Most Chi Fi manufacturers switched to 4493 for the basic.

- Anyhow Magni Spec sheet looks good.
I see. Thanx for the info on the 4490 chip. I'll wait for others to reply :)

Just ordered these bad boys https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07Q7S7247/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 (Sennheiser HD599 se)! I hope they live up to the expectations lol.
When driven properly, they should sound excellent. AFAIK you have M50X, right? If this is your first open back, you will love the sound from an open back.
I don't have the HD599, but have heard them long enough. It's the more tighter/ precise sounding brother of my favourite Sennheiser headphone ( now discontinued HD598)
Don't know why reviewers don't write about the insane upscalability of these inexpensive Sennheisers.
Like their bigger brother ( HD6XX series) they also scale up beautifully.
If possible, buy a hybrid tube amp ( like xDuoo MT series) later, you will love the rig....very nice set up without going crazy and bankrupt at the same time.

Yep this is my first open back, and was looking for a deal on the HD599se for quite some time. I really really hope that they sound better than M50x. Off topic, but I love your profile pic!
I so badly wanted to buy a 400se or deva but knowing that ill need to spend another 10k on a dac, i got a 599se. Hope i dont regret the purchase.
I was in the same boat as you few hours ago. Ordered 599se instead of the hifimans to delay getting an amp. Again, same as you hoping I don't regret it. But, quite a few experienced audiophiles here (@red dragon ) have recommended it. So that is something the 599se has going for it.

Don't worry friends HD599 is a very good headphones and has better build quality compared to entry level hifimans. A much safer choice for entering this rabbit hole.
Just wait, within a few weeks will see some HD650 in market section.
The profile pic is symbolic of trying to get out of this hobby...it's difficult after 20 years. IEM was the easiest thing to get out from. My ears can't differentiate between most of them anymore.
The only exception being the Ety ER4 ( My pair is very old, but it's the only IEM I genuinely love even today)

Just got my pair delivered a few hours back. Been awesome so far. Listening to the albums Room for squares and Life for rent. These are not bass light at all as many people say but its just the right amount for me. I like it much much more on my g7 than on my pc or though the apple usb c adapter. Even though these will be my daily driver for a long time, i know exactly what i want next - something with lesser clamping force and a much wider soundstage. I want to be immersed in sound coming from everywhere. I want to feel as if im listening to speakers and not headphones. :D

I do not regret it. You are in for a treat. Don't expect your mind to be blown at the very first listen. Listen to a few tracks and the sound just grows on you.

Does anyone here use the Yamaha NS-SW050 Active Subwoofer?

I'm planning to get it to connect it to my JBL 104 speakers.

@ibose : Mate, I read earlier in the thread you also have the JBL 104 and have it connected to a Mackie Subwoofer. Will the Yamaha NS-SW050 be a good purchase?

@MrdK : Thank-you my friend!

One more question, I'm thinking of gifting my Uncle a Sennheiser HDHD 599SE. However, he will be using it directly connected to his phone which is a Motorola G40. Will the phone be able to handle the 599SE or should I gift him something else?

I used HD598 before and it was just ok straight from the phone, Huawei honor 9 lite. But it was definitely better with amp. If there is a chance for demo then use that before purchasing. If he doesn't know how it sound with amping then he probably be fine with using it straight from the phone. Later he can try a dongle or something.

So finally I ordered Blessing 2 Dusk. I guess that’s gonna be my iem endgame. Nothing can be a better puja gift to myself than this.
Congrats! How much and from where?

This raises another question. The Sennheiser HD 650 are going to be my first headphones. Before that, I've always used IEMs, starting from Creative EP 630s, all the way to KZ ZS3 and now the Blons BL-03. If I get the Magni Heresy, can I use that with IEMs or do I have to get IEMagni?

From Shenzhenaudio for about 25.4k with additional fees totaling $355. PayPal’s conversion rate is horrible, but couldn’t do much since it’s the only way for me to pay.

I think you can. Earlier I used my aria with zen can. Zen can was reported to have channel imbalance at low vol. I didn’t notice it with aria. Maybe my unit was defect free. Since Schiit one is reviewed to be far superior, you hardly will have any problem I guess.

I will keep this in mind. I will show my patience and just have fun with it.

My whole idea was to get a kickass headphone for gaming and movies on TV. Can you please help me on how is the best way to connect it to the TV? One of the friends was saying, wait for the 650s to come and simply try plugging them into the TV directly. Another thought process was Dolby or Surround Sound (or some semblance of it) will only come via optical connection.

I also want to connect it to my PC. I have a Ryzen 5 5600x with ASUS ROG STRIX B-550 Gaming-F motherboard. From what I know, it has a pretty good built-in sound chip (or whatever it's called).

One friend was recommending a Schiit Modi 3+ from headphonezone since it also has optical.

All in all, I just wanna have a good time watching movies and playing games on my OLED TV. Please guide me.
I recently purchased Wi-Fi version of this B550 F gaming motherboard. On board DAC chip on this motherboard is very good. I tried it myself it can decode DSD format as well, although not claimed by the manufacturer. So if you want something to use with PC you can consider an amplifier something neutral sounding like topping A30 Pro.
Can also consider something like fiio k5 Pro or schiit amplifier.
Avoid ifi , tubes or any other warm sounding amplifier.
At the moment you don't need a DAC you just need an amplifier only.
Also buy a 3.5 mm to stereo RCA cable, to connect rear audio port from your motherboard to amplifier input.
You can also use this cable and amplifier setup with your TV if it has 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Usually optical port on TV or motherboard is used to connect a AV receiver etc.
I do own a LG TV as well and I know these LG televisions are very capable of decoding various audio and video formats so I don't think there is a need for a DAC unless you are using a receiver with dedicated multiple speakers setup.
The last device in your audio chain will be headphone only so why bother with making it a long chain from (optical to DAC then amp then headphone).
When TV can decode almost all formats it's better to use 3.5 mm port on TV to amplifier then headphone. The only format missing is dolby atmos all other formats can be decoded by television itself including dts-hd.
I hope your TV has got 3.5 mm audio jack.

I can understand you need some surround sound effects and openness for movies but no headphones can match dedicated home theatre speakers setup. Maybe something high end and expensive can get you that theatre feel.
