There are a few people who don't care about manufacturer's warranty policy and these are the ones who manually take care of their own cards. If the card runs fine initially for a month or so it'll usually keep running fine as long as it's maintained by regular cleaning dust and maybe re-pasting after a year or so. I would much rather maintain my card regularly and keep it in check so that it does not develop a fault rather than waiting for the warranty to expire and not clean/re-paste it until then. By that time most of the damage is already done by the user and that is why some card sold here you see have little corrosion on the backside of PCB, dust accumulated in the heatsink/fans. Those are the ones to avoid, not the one which have been maintained by the buyer like so.

A regularly well-maintained card is far better than one from a user who didn't bother to do any cleaning/re-pasting within the warranty period and even if a couple month's warranty remains on that I don't wanna take the chance of buying an abused (yes, I'll use that word here because the buyer didn't care) barely in-warranty card so I would have higher risk of it dying sooner than later. Also such cards which have even a little corrosion/oxidation anywhere on the PCB are denied warranty.

Coming to the point of thermal pad replacement, you can keep the stock pads safe and replace them when going for RMA. No one will know.

Just wanted to highlight for people running to replace them...nvidia wont honor any warranty for tampering thing!

Also, Not everyone is so much pro at dismantling a card, deep clean from inside, apply paste/change pads etc. so the statement "to avoid corrosion on the backside of PCB, dust accumulated in the heatsink/fans etc" is baseless. Many here leave in cities with humid/salty climate and these things will happen naturally to every electronics item. Me myself from Mumbai have felt the heat of maintaining things to be in great share yet one cannot be expected to on regular basis to keep tongue-clean their components! Still I manage to take a day off only to care for my desktop which easily costs me investing 12+ hrs to dismantle/deep clean whatever component I can...I know the dedication, time investment, risk and exhaustion!
And there no proven science to avoid such components solely been rusty and dusty unless something is broken and feels manhandled!

There are even rookies an skilled people around who hardly care for their components yet their stuff sales like hot cakes purely o their name/ratings etc. and if anything goes for a toss they even get away quite easily else get banned even after 100+ trades!

Again, no matter how shiny and clean is your card it really isn't gonna fetch anything extra as all goes per depreciation!

Woah 12 hours? I just use blower for 10 secs and its done, but NCR is not that humid.

Sometimes it's impossible to stop the corrosion / discoloration. Even if you take extremely good care of the electronic stuffs. Even in dry weather such as in NOIDA , it's near impossible to keep copper connectors shiny.

While the same component stays somewhat better in Kolkata [although having humid climate].

Of course it takes time if you want to repaste and thoroughly clean the innards of every items. But I guess once in a year is good enough for that kind of cleaning.

@tomclancy1201 : Any idea if these pads are good for Xbox one X , I mean is it compatible or do we need 1.5 mm ?

When I do it I do it thoroughly with very aspect covered. Not that assuming you are doing it halfway or wrong but person to person it differs.
I use vacuum cleaner and once done bit of dust is still there and also vaccum cleaner/blower doesn't cover deep areas, so manually cleaning every component with fresh cloth is essential covering every case/hsf fan (blades/leds), mobo slots, rams, hdds, hdd casings, psu, Then Removing hsf, removing its fans and cleaning, proccy area clean, apply thermal paste. Also cleaning all cables.
Lastly comes gpu. Totally disassembly and through cleaning.

And once reassembled, its all shiny shine as if a brand new assembled system!
Thus these are all the efforts I put in not comparing to anyone or to humiliate anyone but this is how I'm dong since past 20 yrs..

Yes, in-spite of how great you take care, you cannot win in front of nature so have to accept the way it is!

I know how that feels. Few years ago I was in a habit of washing/dipping components in water and "cleaning" the PC like this. Takes efforts but the end results are epic. Now I don't do this extreme method. Blower not hair dryer works for me.

Much better to do it inside Isopropyl alcohol and for others who say corrosion/oxidation cannot be prevented to them I say use petroleum jelly/vaseline BUT only if it's absolutely necessary and you know corrosion is a definite problem for you.
Sure it's messy and difficult to remove but considering it's prevents corrosion and eventually keeps your card in warranty I think it's worth it. When you wanna do RMA clean it as thorough as possible.

Really sorry man, I am not at all into consoles, more of a PC guy with some LC experience. However, found this Reddit thread which does mention these pads to be useful as they are super soft and can basically squish down to 1.5 mm in my experience with them.

Well technically thermal pads are a "part" of the GPU and changing a part does void the warranty. But as per Zotac's warranty policy, you are required to put the product in its original condition
"Fails to return the product in the stock factory configuration or remove any aftermarket modifications."
So I do believe what @enthusiast29 said is doable but there are risks always and these policies are not very strict in India. So it depends on the Brand Rep and technician generally.
FYI I do not take responsibility or liability for anything other than having these pads delivered
Humble request to all, As per rules Can we not make this thread into a discussion. Would love to create a separate thread. Really do not want to upset mods on my first sale thread.
