Really tough to find reviews. The best suggestion put in this thread has been to get a DEMO and I think that makes sense.

for the given budget, Dell precision is the way too go. Check with Raj404 on the forum as he can get EPP discount of 8%.
Alternatively call Dell on their toll free number and get a quote (with education discount) direct to your professors university email ID.
