Thanks everyone for the responses. I want to emphasize that since most of the usage is going to be while I am flying - I think the active noise cancelling requirement would be tops. I have never tried the noise reduction models so cant comment on if they can really block out the jet sounds...

Hi This might get buried under all the other posts but I want to give this a shot :) I am looking to buy decent noise cancelling headphones. I travel a lot (1 week out of every 3 weeks) and need these during the long flights. Primarily used for in-flight but also used sometimes for listening...
