The market rating system was done some time back and went one step ahead and built the marketplace features as well. Now the only thing left to do is test the data migrations for market/ratings and configure the other feature/settings. I guess we are one month away from the switch over.

Nope, that is not possible and is counter intuitive. A topic can belong to only one category/subcategory. We can however have a misc or assorted kind of category for garage sale type of threads.

Well the user can post whatever they want in the thread, just that it would be difficult for buyers to find the items. Easy for buyers that open every thread.

Will enforce single item in a thread. Users can create multiple threads for multiple items. Still if someone is not interested then they can create threads in a separate section outside of core market section.
