OK . Upon further digging, it seems that OS 7.1 does support wifi hotspot. Unfortunately, the 8520's latest OS is version 5 point something, You're out of luck on this one, as far as i can tell. So you might have to start checking some android phones if this feature is pretty important to you.

I'm using a screen-guard meant for for the SE X10. Got it for 50 bucks from Nehru Place. Have bought around 4-5 so far. Much better than the plastic crap that it came with. Haven't used 'better' screenguards so no ideas about the same.

Bought this last month because i was also getting exorbitant quotes for an original 8520 battery. It came in an original packing and it's working fine.

With the current rupee depreciation, i'm not sure if it'd be wise to buy from abroad. Might like to wait for actual user reviews before taking the leap. Also, a 'lighter' version with slightly lower specs might suit my wallet better.

A stable ICS port for both phones would take a month or two, i feel. So i don't see much point in selling one and getting the other. Since you don't require the extra horsepower from the MI410, you should just stick with the Optimus One till a better phone in your budget comes out.
