The 32bit version will do just fine for now. But my advice to you is to completely uninstall all of klite codecs and try playing your movies with the bare minimum that kmplayer comes with by default. Once it works you can google around and try to optimize Kmplayer from there.

No it won't. The difference in hardware will cause issues. With 512mb you just might be able to run it but with all the eye candy turned off. Your best option is to boot from USB if her BIOS supports such a feature or else lend her your DVDRW :)
