Your biggest regret(s) in life

You're not alone mate... impulse control is a big issue for me too.
I was very shy and introvert and scared to death on stage ( that's why I hide my face behind long hair on stage)
Now, that fear is gone, but I've no filter in my mouth...and I often tend to think loud in important meetings.

Oh i definitely regret not gtfo of this country years ago when i was younger and it was still practical to do so. Finances were a problem then so that was a huge hurdle.

I had a lot of issues with the previous governments too, but always felt 'this is my country' and never really felt like leaving for another. But every since 2014 or more precisely 2016 that's changed, and I'm ashamed to be an Indian.

What happened in 2016?
My biggest regret is not being impulsive in general, and for a few cases where I did have something like impulses - not acting on them.
Looks like I cannot change my firmware.
That's my another regret right there. Too many times in the past I let people just push me over .. thinking Karma will get them ... It did in a few instances but I still feel I should have reacted strongly at that time. I do however cut off from those bullies and see them suffer later (Karma getting them) but this while mind set of depending on Karma is deep down just cowardice I feel. Another reason I didn't react is I react in a bit extreme way and that could have landed me in problems at work but I think the world is harsh on people who are shy quiet type.

@ julian..You can still do it mate. But pretty much every country is in a mess now.
If you want to come to our country and settle here, all you have to do is to fall in love with a Czech woman!!
May sound messed up, but it's the easiest and smoothest way of changing citizenship.

DeMo. 100% proof that they were just out for profit at any expense including their own voters.

I was actually looking at Canada last couple years. One of the few places with some semblance of democracy. And a very quick path to citizenship if you do get in. EU countries are way harder.

Ok I know a few people who feel the same way. Let it go man .. don't weigh your worth by someone's else's deeds.

Yeah, i know, but i actually am not happy living here these days. There is a vile atmosphere but most people ignore it. I can't. I'm not a perfect person or a saint but bad morals and ethics weigh very heavily on my heart.

Then go for it man..yes, Canada is a sane country.
Surprisingly I didn't face any major obstacle in EU citizenship.
I went to Vienna for 6 months training. One particular evening changed everything....strange sequence of events..missed the bus...it was snowing heavily...no cabs...came back to HQ....my best friend left her mobile phone @ work and was searching for it...I discovered it from under a couch...we kept on chatting as it was snowing real bad.... eventually we fell asleep in two large couches ( no dinner, just some chocolates)...next morning EVERYTHING changed...God does exist.

Try staying away from news and politics for a few weeks and it becomes lot easier. I know ignorance is not a solution and it will only make things worse in the long run but people like you and me can't really change others to see the truth because we are usually very blunt. People want to be coaxed into seeing the truth or will only see it when the get the most rude shock of their lives. I must admit though that even I was taken in by BJP and Modi's manipulation in 2014 so I can understand why so many people can't see their malice. Also many Indians, even belonging to our generation don't support total freedom. They just want the society to be moulded according to their beliefs instead of having true freedom for everyone. So it's not worth wasting our time and health over these kind of issues.

I tried but it seems nearly impossible now. Age is a factor with the points and my background isn't exactly going to get me too many points either. I mean career and academics. Only other option is going on an education basis and studying for a while then settling, but again, age. It's easy to say age is just a number but another matter practically.

You love story is amazing. And it does happen out of the blue sometimes. But if you go at it with that as the sole objective it probably won't happen lol. I know i'm being very negative and pessimistic here but i've explored my options and it's not the difficulty, none of the paths doesn't seem likely.

I don't even have a tv, and i stopped reading papers long ago. The only 'news' i see is probably in the android chrome start page. Even that i'm very picky what i read. But stuff that affects you in daily life, you can't ignore or avoid that. I was never interested in politics. That all changed in 2016 when they told me i couldn't have my own money.

I for one never fell for modi or the bjp's bs, because i judge people on their character not on their pr. So since i already knew what type of people they are i wasn't foolish enough to expect something different from them. It's not often that you will find a rose that smells like ass right?

37 years old here. I tried to check for Canada few months back and after factoring everything, gave up as age is biggest thing in my case. I have given up and will have to live here only now.

Just hang on there man. Do what you're supposed to do.
Better days will definitely come your way.
In reality I have no idea about immigration policies of any country.
I didn't even plan to leave India, just went through the flow ( it was another very dark phase as my ex-wife left abruptly with our daughter and came back to India)
There's no love story in my life mate. It was rather opposite. Two completely devasted completely broken individuals just trying to survive and remain clean and sober.
I wanted to ask you engineers/ techies one thing..do you guys go to US for some projects? Many of my school mates who are engineers go to US and come back after 4-5 years. Some of them work in TCS and similar huge companies.
Few work in Amazon/ Google. My hostel room mate used to work in Apple, now in Amazon. He's presently @ Bangalore.

Majority of us need to be told what to do. Imagine giving freedom to all. They will create havoc.
