First PC build, long boot times, ram issue?

Just built my first PC.
R5 3600
RX 5600 XT
1tb intel m.2 drive
XPG GAMMIX D30 Desktop Memory: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Black
Asrock B450M Pro4

My boot times are about 15 seconds pre "asrock" logo... Till then I get no input, but once the mobo logo is up it’s a less than 10 second boot, so windows is coming up nice and quick off that M.2 drive... I think it’s a bios setting of some sort, IDK. I changed ram speed/voltage in bios to 3200 and the 1.35 set automatically. I also have found out that my default bios is 4.30 and the most up to date is one newer which is 4.60. I don’t know that I need to update it, and would be nervous to do so. I ran two full passes of memtest86 and passed flawlessly (I know there is debate about running memtest86 for 86 days or whatever, people say one pass, people say 10, people say 24 hours, IDK I did two passes and felt confident.) Also ran an SSD bench and it was 1800-1950 so that is running well. When I booted initially I installed MOBO drivers and GPU drivers.

So two questions here.
  1. These ram sticks are 16-20-20, I’ve read some places that Ryzen doesn’t like such loose timings? Do I need a different set of ram? I know about QVL (not till after putting it all together). I need help knowing if I need to change ram sticks, if I do, I need to know 100% what sticks will fix this problem. If it’s not the ram sticks, then-> (Question below)
  2. Why do I have a 30 second boot on a brand new build with components that shouldn't take that long to boot?
It really seems like there is a ram issue, I’ve heard ryzen is picky, but I'm having problems finding concrete evidence of it. I need a smoking gun to justify replacing the ram before my replacement/refund date with newegg runs out. This build more than capped out my FunFund and if I need to upgrade my ram to make it work correctly I’ll do it, but I need to be able to justify it.

Thanks in advance, guys.

did you try xmp in your bios at default ? make sure its in dual channel mode and in cpuz it should be 1600 Mhz.
sometimes a bad windows install can lead to longer boot time. do this fter you have run out of all possible options of testing

I do have XMP on, and yes it does show 1600.

Once the mobo boots up the windows comes up in less than 8-10 seconds... I don't think I have a windows issue, this was a windows clone from my laptop.

is the ram in A2 and B2 slot?
XMP or default ram setting speeds will not make much diff to your Bios boot time
what is the time from power button press to Post screen (bios splash)
what is the time from Post Screen (Bios splash )to win logo
have you tried enabling Fast boot in bios and disabling Full screen logo in BIOS settings
Are there any old hard disks also connected via Sata to the PC?

1. Ram is seated in correct slots.
2. Ok
3. 15 seconds
4. 9ish seconds
5. yes, does nothing.
6. No. I even tried booting after removing the m.2 and it changed nothing.

Then last step is to try bios update
Avg post times for most boards is within the 5-12 sec mark
I personally doubt the ram is slowing your post
Try booting with a single stick
And before you buy new one try borrowing a single stick from a friend and trying a boot
If the times are same then that's how long the board takes.

If I am not mistaken instead of following the long and proven route of a fresh windows install, you just cloned it on the m2. I am not a specialist but i have noticed its always better to i stall fresh copy of windows in a new build.
May be try installing windows a fresh and see.

His issue is the BIOS post time s I think which he is not happy with
From post to bios he said is taking less than 10 secs

It's common with Ryzen, take long to POST. So don't worry.
Yes, do update to latest BIOS stable version.
It takes about 10-12 sec for me.

Ensure mobo is mounted properly to cabinet, and no shorting or touching directly. Used the spacer screws correctly?
But a bios update might be worth it

booting with the m.2 drive removed resulted in same boot times. Windows install is not affecting it.

Cloning Windows is a BAD idea. It works good many times, but it doesnt sometimes. So, I'd advise you to pay heed to people who are telling you that cloned windows MAY be a problem. This is your first PC build and people advising you are more experienced than you, therefore.

Secondly, always, ALWAYS, keep your motherboard BIOS updated. BIOS upgrades never brick systems. Just stick to final releases and not beta builds and you will be fine unless you are very unlucky.

I have a 3600 alongwith Sapphire 5700XT and WIndows installed on M.2 SATA SSD. ASUS ROG strix B350F motherboard. Quickboot is enabled and it takes me like 4 seconds to POST and then 7 more seconds to reach desktop. If you try everything suggested here and even then your POST is slow, then that might be because of the motherboard or the GPU and unfortunately, that is how it will be for you.

Good luck!
