Budget 0-20k Downgrade advice

Hi,

So, the current specs of my rig are- Asus Prime B-350 plus mobo, vengeance ram 8gb (IIRC 2400mhz), zotac 1060 6 gb gpu and ryzen 1600 cpu. Have no time for gaming these days. Planning to sell the cpu+gpu. Getting around 6000 and 12000 for them respectively. Should I sell them both and get an apu like 2200g which costs like 7900? Or should I keep the R5 1600 and buy a gpu like GT 710 2gb? Is there a more lower end gpu than the 710? The pc will only be used for browsing, watching movies and for softwares like Photoshop v6/7. I read somewhere that for the 2200g the ram needs to be atleast of 3200mhz. Is that correct?

Thanks

try to snag any of the apu 2200g or 2400g or get new 3200g , you will get good price for 1060 ,which could completely finance a new APU
Thanks. For normal day to day browsing, movies plus a little photo editing which is better R5 1600+710 or the 2200G? Which will tend to "slow" down with time? Also can either of the two options support dual monitors?

this will bee supported as per your boards web page

Is it worth it? And if I go with the 2200G then is there a need to upgrade the ram to 3200mhz?
Using Ryzen 2200G, since sept 2019.

Absolute garbage.
Garbage as in? My usage will be simple browsing(multiple tabs), movies and very light editing. If I sell the R5 too, already sold 1060, and get the 2200G I will save around 2k. I can stick to R5+710 if saving this 2k will slow down the system in the future. How much "slow" will the 2200G be as compared to the R5+710 combo? Is the latter combo a little more future proof?
@Nitendra Singh Bhai selected 710 2gb as it is the cheapest. About photo editing, it will be very very light editing and will be done in Photoshop v6 or max 7. Will 710 be good in this case? And does it matter whether the active or passive cooling one is selected?

Two last queries-
1. Since the 2200g has 4 threads and 4 cores and the box says 3 (generation ?) does it mean it is equivalent to the i3 processor and the r5 which has 6 cores and 12 threads and the box says 5 (again generation?) = i5?
2. Out of both these options the 2200g and R5+710, which will get "slower" with time? When I say slower I mean with windows updates, new softwares, better quality videos etc. Do both these options support cloud gaming like GeForce Now?

Here's what nobody will tell you about the 2200G.

AMD always has made decent standalone CPUs, and decent GPUs. The 2200G was their first attempt at making an APU. And not only did they want to make an APU that was good, they wanted to make it better than Intel. And in order to do that, they incorporated a lot of graphic processing power (compared to Intel HD 3000 graphics).

Now the problem with this setup is that it requires RAM. A lot of RAM. and good Quality RAM.

The Vega graphics card literally shits itself to death when it is run on any RAM less than 3000 MhZ.
AMD unofficially confirmed that you need a higher clocked ram to run this shit. And for you to upgrade the RAM as well as the CPU, makes zero logic, no?

Just wondering, whats wrong with your current setup? Do you really need the money, or are you just bored?

PS: pro-tip (as a longtime 2200G user) Google "2200g atikmpag.sys"

Thanks bro. Any source for this

Nothing wrong with the current setup it's just that I have zero time for gaming. Already sold the 1060 gpu. Two buyers of the R5 are after me. My usage will be just simple browsing(with multiple tabs), videos, movies and very light photo editing. Is the 2200 G not capable of handling this too? If I sell the R5 and get the 2200g then I will save another 2k compared to the 710. Just making sure whether the 2k saved will be worth it for next few years or not?

Just checked about that atikmpag.sys error. How frequently did you get it?

if you are not going to game at all than there should be no problem. Add a nvme SSD and you will b all good , if you have mechanical HDD and storage requirement is not a concern than i recommend people to all together drop them from the system ,this will decrease the Boot/Shutdown & restart time significantly

Thanks. Is the 2200g going to slow down with time with new softwares, windows updates etc. I mean I don't mind not saving 2000 now rather than a "slower" system after a year or two. Plus the higher mhz ram thing as mentioned above by @AMG is confusing me.

you can't compare 2200g with a dedicated CPU like R5.
1600 is a good processor I'm too using it. just to save 2k it isn't worth selling R5.
R5 + 710 is a better option for long term use , you can also upgrade to better GPU if required in future.

Thanks. Is the higher mhz ram thing true for the 2200G? Considering the usage what I have mentioned above is there a more economical gpu than the 710 2 gb or is this enough? Any difference in quality between the active and cooling one?

yes, APUs video and processing power is somewhat related with RAM.
There are GPU's like Gt 610 which are obsolete now. your best option is GT 710 , I used MSI GT 710 2GB (passive cooled) like 3years back and it served the purpose, my usage was same like your requirements now.
Passive cooling is the one without a fan (Heatsink only), it is suggested for a HTPC where silent card is required.
active cooled will get you some degrees less temps and a few more fps in games but as you are not planning to game active cooling isn't much important unless your system runs hot.
this was the card I bought in july 2016 MSI GT 710
