Is there any technology which is obsolete or on the verge of obsolescence which you will miss ?

This!! Marriage and audio ( specially if you're the obsessive type about quality) equipments are a very bad mix.
Swear to God, I only have to lie to my wife about cost of headphones/ amps etc.
Do any of you guys lie about price of gadgets to your wife to maintain "shanti" in family?
I am single but I still lie to my mom about the prices. I just tell her 25% of what I actually paid. My mom always thinks I pay a lot more for the product she doesn't know I do detailed research and go for the best bang for buck almost always. BLON 03 & LP 6 for example. These are gear that are known to pack a lot of punch at their price point. Imaging explaining that to the ladies :tearsofjoy:

Seems among you guys I'm the ultra luckiest in this regards as my wife also takes interest into tech stuff and most importantly she doesn't poke nose in my biz/leisure/hobby etc. and she supports it happily.. esp while gaming when I tell her to lemme complete this mission & we will have coffee late today...:p

We believe in 101% freedom cum personal spaces and are very open minded. We understand humor, fun and crap really well so these never ever came between us in terms of any conflicts or fights arising out of it..:sunglasses:

In fact she is the one pushing me hard to upgrade my decade old gaming rig to a latest one and suggesting all ideas she can find. She supports rooting, mods, modifying cars, bikes etc. etc. all dirty and dark stuff as well!:D

She is from a non-tech background but seeing my interests she automatically adapted and got interested into techno stuff... I appreciate her wholeheartedly:hearteyes:

Lucky man indeed!! My condition is polar opposite.
Thankfully I don't play games. Our only common interest is possibly chess ( she's faaaar ahead of me)and movies But beside statistics and office apps, she only uses Fritz ( chess software) and is perfectly fine with her old MacBook Air, iphone XR and a very cheap wireless headphones ( Sennheiser BTNC 4.5)

especially this part above, kudos to your super caring and understanding wife
Man, I miss audio cassettes. Maybe its just the nostalgia but I feel I appreciated music a lot more in that format. Back in high school saving money so that I can afford the 150 buck Incubus album. Good times.
same here, now as you said the part about appreciation I too feel like I enjoyed the music a lot (can't say if more) back in those times, I remember buying that portable belt clip-on thingy walkman and going out walking, biking, cycling and having a really good time, nostalgia hits different on this one
didn't see this one coming
Fun fact: I used to mod and offer DSDT-patched BIOS images to force-enable SLI on various otherwise unsupported motherboards.
good old times which will only be remembered but who knows what up the sleeves of manufacturers further down the future, you can't surely predict something these days

Software that I paid for over the years eventually stop getting updates or is no longer supported by the operating system. RIP WHS, you were the best.

Hardware-wise:

Zune. iRiver. HP's Pocket PCs. UMPC's like the OQO and Vaio UX. So many handheld devices have been made obsolete by smartphones.

HP had really cool products about a decade ago that were super hyped but died a quick death: HP Veer and HP Touchpad.

VIA's EPIA line of Mini-ITX and smaller motherboards. These practically invented the HTPC category.

Double wide PC server/workstation cases, these were actually sold in India in the early 2000's.

Gigabyte's i-RAM, Western Digital's Velociraptor. Fast storage was always so exciting.

IR transmitters in phones, and it looks like NFC would end up going away soon.
