Pathetic exp. with SBI customer care. Never ever own their credit cards.

I'm running literally running from pillar to post to get my credit card cancelled since past a week.

But this cc of sbi is the most fake, fluke and pathetic I had ever encountered across any banks!

I tried 4 of their cc nos 1800xxx and on any of those nos. when I select option 9 to speak with cc persons, it says your waiting time is less than 1 sec and for next 10mins only sbi ads are heard with literally no idiot coming on call to at least speak with the customer.

I have mailed then via my credit card online banking a/c but zero response yet.

Their nodals got no phone no direct email id to reach out.

My card is due for yearly charging fee this week and I dont want to cancel it.

Any other ways to reach these a$$ho0les and get the job done?

SBI! You need to restrict only to keeping SB, FD's, and maybe PPF at a branch where you can walk into. Dealing with the team on products outside their core areas may cost your mental health. At this point, you need to collect all pieces of evidence (Emails, screenshots, etc) and write to the banking ombudsman and cc everyone from SBI (if you have any emails)

Started my first bank account on SBI because of their numerous ATMs, CDMs and no minimum balance savings accounts. They really went downhill in the past 4 years for me. HDFC bank sent me a new debit card when banks shifted to chip based cards while SBI required me to go the branch and fill out the usual paperwork. When I went to my branch, their customer service and management was so abysmal that I left without even getting the proper application forms. Glad I stopped using their services because their customer service is absolutely horrible. ATMs and CDMs go unrepaired for months, the employees at some branches are so inefficient and sometimes they won't even acknowledge your presence lol. Was planning to get a SBI cc to get the 10% discount on online sales but looks like their CC customer care is the same.

Hope you get your problem sorted out.

I do not have any concerns/issues for my savings a/c with them. Its just that their customer care thing is extremely pathetic. They are literally lying when they say wait period is just under 1 sec and then broadcasting their ever pathetic ads for a good 10mins. This seems to be their trap to woo customer, make him pissed off and make him hang off the call.

More to that this is not of today and certainly not ltd to one single no. but tried their all nos esp. chargeable nos.

Now who is gonna pay for my mobile bill for dialing those nos where in return I'm getting nothing except only frustrations and nonsense!

At least pvt. banks paid nos. work good even though long waiting times.

If you would like to know your patience level you can try SBI customer care especially their credit card division. I usually payoff the SBI credit card balance amount in total as soon as I purchase any product (mostly use it for the 10% discount on online sales). As usual when I bought something and paid off the amount in full, I was still charged the minimum amount due and got debited from my SBI account. Then only I came to know that they have linked my SB account with the credit card to be auto debited for the minimum amount due. It took me 3 months and innumerable phone calls (yes, their customer care answered but no solution was provided). However, for me their credit card online banking worked wherein I emailed and got a reply after 3 days and still it took couple of more email to sort the issue out. I do have other accounts with SBI but visit their branch only when necessary. Seems like after some banks merging with SBI they seems to be totally understaffed now with no proper hierarchy.

They usually respond to credit card mail in 48 hrs, if not as another FM suggested you need to escalate to their ombudsman.

SBI card was initially run by GE capital and things have gone a bit downhill since SBI took over majority control.

Having said so, I always get the annual charges reversed and even other issues resolved by simply using the email option within the app. The first line is useless but the escalation and nodal teams within the app respond diligently and the issue is always resolved in a week.

Not sure why your experience is so different.

Do the wave off annual charges if any?

Same experience for me. I have never had any major issues with SBI CC, which is the only card I own, since 2004. They respond promptly to queries. In fact, my annual charges are zero since the past 4 years, after I complained to them that getting the charges reversed each year was cumbersome. Before that, like you, I had to get the charges reversed each year.

I guess he is referring to this app: SBI card
I usually send the email to customercare@sbicard.com from my registered email id.

Depends on your past relationship with them.

Just got ultra lucky...got connected to their CC and removed all my frustrations on the lady.
Yet she was going gaga over current yrs charges, offers and bullshit!

I remained firm on what issues I faced in initial 2yrs and right now and said it wasn't my fault at all as I was not able to reach you guys for the cancellation request since 10 days now. Blame it on your ivr.
I wasn't even sure about yearly charge date though I knew it was somewhere in this month and wow the date was yesterday when she said you have to clear some charges!

But naturally put everything on them, if I had got connected to cc a week back the card would had got cancelled and hence no charges etc.

Anyways, Card got cancelled and current year charges waived off.
Feeling of some silly war won!

Customer service in India is pathetic.

RBI tells HDFC Bank to stop new digital launches and selling new credit cards

It is unfortunate you had to go through all this. Every SBI card comes with a waiver condition. My father's card from several years ago is always charged annually and I get it reversed through the app as mentioned previously.

In my case, I applied for a SBI card less than 2 years ago and after the first year, I received a message stating that all charges have been waived as my expenditure was above the required limit. Don't have to do anything in this case.

SBI will never do it for free where in your case you haven spent this much amount hence naturally the waiver thing shouldn't get applied.
But in my case I have only sued the card for 50k transactions in past 4-5yrs so no way they were gong to give me any waiver.
And my primary motto was if i dont use it why even keep it hence anyhow wanted to get rid of this burden!

In the case you are better off without it. Yes, they don't give a waiver if you don't meet the condition, so unless you are saving more using the card it is of no use. Keep it mostly for the offers though because HDFC/SBI are always at the forefront in terms of bank offers during sales across platforms.

My dad was an SBI officer for 15 years and my savings account is at a branch where he was the first manager. Given how our country usually works you'd expect that I would get VIP treatment (not that I go looking for it) but the only difference between how they deal with me and any other customer is that they tell me politely why they will not do any of my work :tearsofjoy: .I asked him once why he made me open an account there and he said that the only reason to have an account at SBI is that the government will never let it fail...
