iOS Buying iPhone 12 Pro Max

I live in New Delhi. I am considering of buying an iPhone 12 Pro Max 256GB.
At apple showroom the MSRP of this device is somewhere around 139K, However I am getting offers from some people who said that they have brand new box pack with full warranty and they are selling it for 97-100K.

Is there a catch to it? Why would someone sell an item for 40K less?

Should I buy it from these people if they are selling sealed box with full 1 year warranty?

If you can go and purchase it in person and verify that it is indeed a legit 12 pro max and everything turns up good in benchmarks than it might be worth a shot.

Sometimes people just want to cut their losses with minimum effort so they give heavy discount. Ofcourse greater the discount greater the risk of undiscovered defects even if it is a legit device.

12 pro max 256gb can be bought as low as 93k but it's not an Indian piece it's a international/imported phone, Now from April 1st 2021 apple has stopped offering warranty on international phones as they don't come with the invoice Apple service centre will ask for the invoice from origin if no invoice no warranty. Do check it with an apple authorised service centre before buying.

But when you enter the serial # it shows warranty date, so will it not be enough?

About the dealer I mentioned in the original invoice, I bought an apple watch series 6 last week for 33K, which is under warranty till Jan 2022. He gave me the soft copy of that invoice.
But it has a faulty charger.

When i took that watch to apple service center. Those guys said that the charger isn't authentic it doesn't have a serial #. and that apple watch was originally purchased from US.
So the invoice was fake. Talking about the invoice. If he provides a fake invoice for the iphone how will i verify it.

It shows warranty as there is only one server around the world for all Apple products.

Did u asked the service centre guy is your watch under warranty ? They must have said yes but then they must have asked u for the original invoice.

Charger? Apple watch does not comes with a charger it only comes with a Cradle.

Did the dealer gave u an Indian invoice for the watch?

Dealers cannot provide invoice for imported phones as most of them are smuggled in bulk and do not carry original invoices.

Yes the dealer gave me Indian invoice. When I showed it to service Centre he ignored the invoice but said it’s purchase location is US

I attacked that invoice

What’s your personal opinion? Looking into the quality of Apple products, if I am buying a smuggled phone which is brand new sealed pack for less than 40k, is that risk worth?

Wtf Amazon India invoice and the sellers is Rocket Kommerce which is Amazon only [emoji53] l. 12% GST charged it should be 18% that's a fake invoice.

If u don't care about the warranty then go ahead.

Without warranty there is always a tension but then that’s why I said “risk” looking into the quality of Apple products, are there chances of failure and the device getting bricked?

OK so maybe the Apple service Centre guy must have lied so that people are discouraged from buying second hand Apple products

In Mumbai too, I am aware (never visited) of 2 shops, one is cellbuddy in Malad and one more shop in Bandra which have Instagram channel too and they sell iphones for cheap, some sealed pack and some used very less kind of.

Although the prices etc look lucrative, I have fear of getting a repackaged piece and I am sure these people can very well repack and plastic seal a box.

Even a 10 year old kid can remove the iphone from the plastic pack and can repack it it's that easy.

Ye but as far the phone is not activated there is no harm specially when there are no accessories Included, Earlier they used to swap the original ones with the chainese one.
So if I buy one of these sealed phones for 97k but I put a condition that he has to come with me in Apple service center and once the service Centre people confirm that the device is 100% fine there is no defect and then I make the payment.

Will it be safe?

I doubt any shop guy will come along with u just to get it checked also if he's selling the international version or the Indian version they activate it in front of u you can check it personally but once u step down from their shop there responsibility ends there.

BTW why not buy a used Indian model for 90/95/100k depending on the Condition , Age, Variant.

It’s good to visit in a public place where lot of people are there. Don’t go to isolated areas for meeting this seller. You might just lose a kidney or get mugged. Be safe.

He's buying it from a dealer and not a olx/road side guy.

Thank you guys for your advices

i am ready to buy an Indian version too, as long as it’s in brand new condition with zero scratch and battery 100% healthy
I just had a discussion with one of those dealers he is coming to my house with a sealed pack of iPhone 12 Pro Max Japanese version
He said international warranty, sealed pack and he will activate it right in front of me

Don't get the Japanese version. You CANNOT mute camera shutter sound unless you jailbreak or remove speaker from the phone. Any other variant would be ok.
