Audio Audiophile and gears

There's a lot of options ranging from 3.5k to 15k for Sony's wireless stuff:

WH-CH510 - 3.5k
WF-XB700 - 7k (Wireless earbuds)
WH-CH710N - 8k
WH-XB700 - 8k
WH-XB900N - 15k

Not exactly sure about sound quality of these but they all should be decent enough (altho the 3.5k model may not have the best build). The XB models will emphasise heavily on bass compared to the CH models, so you could make a decision based on whether she likes bass or not. Good luck!
Thanks again, do all of them also support mic inputs?
I have tried the Boat Rockerz 600 and they are great for the price...1500.
Wanted to get something nice, I've seen her using boats and cheap JBLs quite a lot , they tend not last long. Have heard several complaints that one ear stops working in a few months, something as such.

I have been using a boat rockerz 600 since 2017 and they still sound great. Only ear cushions need to be replaced. I understand your gesture and reading what @quaratineinthesejeans has written about the sennheiser pxc 550 ii , you can go for them. They will last long and will scale well with time, as they provide both the convenience of Bluetooth and sound quality of wired headphones. Sony is good, but it is more like the Samsung of headphones, you will get something decent for your money but not value for your money as you are also paying for the brand value. Sorry for the long response. Hope you find what you are looking for :)

can can u send me link to this group?
They take a while to accept new requests

Rig:
Videocon Walky - KT3114 (Given to me by my girlfriend in School back in 1997).
The Best of Sting - Fields of Gold Audio Cassette (Bought in 1999).
Sennheiser PX-100 II (Bought in 2015).

Hands down the best post in this thread (that too on 15th August). Is it possible to find a Walkman anywhere online?
We hoisted the Indian flag in front of our house today... Legally I'm not Indian anymore, but the flying tricolour took me straight back to childhood with ma, baba, my 2 little sisters. Ma, baba left this world long ago, haven't seen my sisters for ages..we are in 3 different countries thousands of miles away from India.
Neither sad or happy...but a strange void inside and a lingering question..where the hell do I belong?

I don’t think the current iPad generation can relate to the joy of listening recorded tapes on Walkman. I used to have a red Videocon Walkman too that was gifted to me by uncle in late 90’s. It was there with me till 2005-2006 until mp3 took over and I got my first PC in 2004.

Thank-you my friend. Miraculously enough the Walkman still works. The lady who gifted it to me, we parted ways soon after school but hey this reminds me of her, in more good ways than one!

I loved reading through your post. I can relate to an extent on how it feels when you say "where the hell do I belong". All I can say is you belong in the work you do, you belong to the people in the countries that you have cured and saved. You have threaded back broken families and supported them with your medical skills which you have practiced over the years. I have read your replies in the COVID thread here on TE. You have taken time and always replied back patiently to so many queries from us members who have had our fair share of doubts. You belong here. The knowledge that you have shared in this thread is enough for us to give you a Passport to Audio Nirvana Country. You belong there as well.

So, there... we Earthlings... we always belong. Well, somewhere at least. Stay cool, stay strong and soldier on brother!

On Topic:

I'll post my old stash of cassettes sometime. It's not a whole lot but still. It'll be fun to share a photo of them. For the one's that grew up before the entire digital music revolution it'll be an instant trip back to where we started! :)

I was also looking for a sony discman, but it's not worth it. You may find a cassette walkman at ebay or amazon store but it' s newly made Chinese crap.
If someone's selling original sony / aiwa etc, probably it's used or exorbitantly priced.

Right, seen some at eBay, but from unknown Chinese brands.
A Walkman was my gift to myself after going through JEE decades back, it remained with me through out MBBS, can't remember where did it go, carried a big cardboard box of casettes from the ancestral home to where we first settled. Now that box is lost too with hundreds of casettes.
Still remember fast forwarding, going back thousands of times the Blood Sugar Sex Magic album, to learn the basslines. So difficult with a crappy casette player's speakers ( had a cheap Videocon casette player with small detachable speakers, bought from a store called Anandamela in Gariahat market)
This forum is just awesome!! God bless you all.

I think I have a Sony Walkman somewhere in the house. As @Black_Hawk knows, also have a Sony music system from the 90s and also quite a lot of Hindi cassettes, all thanks to Dad. The cassettes sound bad compared to what we can listen to today, but there is still some charm and a lot of nostalgia to that old school setup. I want to get that system checked out and if needed, some refurbishment carried out. Would also like to know, if some special care is needed for the cassettes as most are 20 yrs+ old.

I also looked for boombox cassette players they are all chinese, Quality products are obsolete now.
Even those 3 or 5 CD changers Mini HI-fi by sony , LG all gone. Now they 're manufacturing these stupid looking portable single unit party speakers and soundbars.
yes, I do own one of these Panasonic SC-UA7 (sounds very good) but when audio is recorded in stereo wtf will these portable boxes do.

My 90s music system worked for almost 16-17 years and I still got many hindi english cassettes, but same like you, these cassettes are all 20+ yr old now. some are even 30+ years.
Cassettes sound more organic, kind or juicier or addictive. :)
Nothing special we can do for these cassettes, best we can do is to keep playing them and store in dry and cool place avoiding the only enemy (moisture).

I'm not sure what exactly they do, but have seen in the lab of Satyajit Roy Film Training school in Kolkata.
They treat the old tapes with some kind of solution. Not audio tapes, but VHS. They restored classics like Pather Panchali and some earlier gem of Roy's movies.
If you live in/ near Kolkata, visit SRFT, a lifetime experience.
I have asked them, yes, audio tapes can be restored too, but can be very messy at home.
I have the emails of some technicians. DM me if interested. Those people are really experienced and very humble. And they love to teach younger people.
A very underrated institute, but their courses are truly helpful and inexpensive.

In general people usually seek professional services to restore their personal VHS tapes and recordings of some marriage party or celebrations. As for the audio tapes we do have CDS DVD and digital copies though we miss something musically. When someone is willing to teach and is providing a fair quotation for restoration I think there is no harm in restoring old audio cassettes for someone who is residing nearby. People like these are really doing a great job but apparently it's worthless for most of the people.

Those old school cassette sounded way more analogue, whereas today's formats sound like digital mess in comparison.

By the way, they still make Walkmans but flagship ones like these don't even come to India.

But those are not casette or CD players. Available in EU, but very expensive.
I know 2 Aussies who had the Z series walkmans ( think the Z series transformed into today's flagships)

This thread has been quiet for a few days now. Looks like everyone is enjoying their Audio Nirvana and it's all "Shanti Shanti"!

Let me gently wake everyone up for a few moments...

Auris bluMe HD Bluetooth Music Receiver

I bought this primarily for streaming Spotify in my room while I work during the day. I needed a no nonsense, hassle free setup and the chain is as follows:

Droid Tab (with Spotify) + Auris bluMe + Marantz PM5005 + MICCA MB42

The MICCA's are soon to be replaced with Missions. The Auris sounds quite lovely and there hasn't been any annoying signal drops or hiccups while it streams music from my Tab. I keep the Tab volume at full and the Marantz at about 9 o'clock position. Suffices. A comfortingly warm beautiful Marantz synergy envelops my work-cave.

Cries in broke :D :( :D

Jokes aside, are you able to distinguish between the bluetooth setup and wired setup keeping all other things same?
