Aliexpress.com - Feedback Thread

How are you able to pay? All Indian cards are banned isn’t?
Looks like there is still a lot of confusion regarding AliExpress. Here are some points which may be helpful for some.
~AliExpress has stopped shipping to India from Nov 2020.
~You cannot download AliExpress app from play store or App store India.
~You can install AliExpress apk and use it on android and also download AliExpress from USA app store in case of iOS.
~Browsing the app works fine via vpn and sometimes even directly. AliExpress website can also be accessed by vpn.
~You can still use Indian credit cards but the shipping address should be some other country. AliExpress don't ship to India anymore.
~You can also use your old Indian account and use a new shipping address of some other country. Indian accounts still work.
~You cannot use a USA account and use a USA credit card to order on an Indian address.
~You can also request sellers to ship the products outside AliExpress by paying them directly via PayPal. This means, no AliExpress protection for you and no raising of disputes in case of any problem so one should deal with reputed sellers only.
~Not all sellers can ship outside AliExpress, so, you need to confirm first by messaging the seller.
~Other option to buy is to use Ebay but the catalogue is very small in comparison to AliExpress but at least the buyer is safe there.
~Ebay accepts Indian credit cards and PayPal but since the payment gateway is managed by PayPal so sometimes PayPal tries to be oversmart and forces you to make a paypal account and do not process the payment if you use a cc diretly.
~Ebay has a lot of Chinese sellers too. I think, from all the sellers in the world, only Chinese sellers on Ebay ship to India.
~If you want to buy from Ebay then have a look at Ebay Uk too. Some products may he available there.
~Products are still arriving from China and no, customs do not hold any grudge against China or block Chinese parcels.
~AliExpress ban is just a nautanki by the govt and forgien trade with China has increased after the lockdown. Your parcels will still arrive from China as they did before but you cannot order directly from AliExpress.

Who are you talking about? Context?
Can't remember the name of the guy....But the video was made in beautiful back drop of mountain range of leh ladakh..... View Towards China.

The agenda / slogan back then.. Something like...We Indian may not able to win war in front of Chinese bullet, but every Indian can fight back china with his wallet by not consuming any chinese goods....

The same week Govt start banning one by one Chinese App .....And this is the time Nov 2020 - as stated in the above post, India's banning drama started.

two things i could say is this pandemic has caused a chaos in the lifes of people with low income/ middle class families and many those who have lost families .But due to lower interest rates many setting up small business etc ,i hope they are genuine and not bogus company who are genuinely interested to manufacture good quality products for india

The name of that guy is Sonam Wangchuk. He gave a slogan of boycotting Chinese software in a month and boycotting the hardware in one year. (Total BS imo). He even had the audacity to make a follow up video praising Indian efforts.

Some Famus Guy sat on a beautiful back drop of Leh - Ladakh. made a video (propaganda by gov) for Youtube and this thing started by the govt.
“The sheer suddenness of the move, the unexpected nature of the move, the unpredictability of the move, the fact that there was no warning to the Chinese. They don’t know what hit them, now the Chinese will know that when we want to act, we shall act as WE WISH.” Mr Gooswami

I tried to place an order at Aliexpress , i have reached payment gateway stage, no message has come that the order cant be delivered to India till now.

That is how it works. You can select your Indian card and proceed, nothing happens. The second time you try to proceed, a pop-up comes up that orders cannot be delivered to India.

To reiterate, AliExpress does not have a block on Indian cards, only on Indian addresses. The first time, only the card is verified and hence there is no error.

Well, my order is somewhere in India and has been stuck there for the past two months. No way to track it, I guess.

EDIT:- Got scammed on eBay. Nice. My purchase is missing from my page.
Was it untracked or you didn't get an India Post tracking number after it landed here?

I used to track my aliexpress stuff on 17track.net
Supports a lots of country posts and couriers. Was also able to find India post tracking after item landed here, with the china post/NL post tracking number.

The latter. Got a message from the seller saying that my package got lost. Waited two-three months for it. He's offering to ship another one but at this point, I am not so sure if I should spring for it again and go through months of being impatient.

So, we ship from AliExpress to USA and then we forward to India. Is there a shorter route with good freight forward services? I wish there was a way to just forward our parcels from Singapore, Dubai or HK (if that isn't banned as well). I often order small inexpensive but niche items from AliExpress and sending them around the world seems a pretty counterproductive and uneconomical.

Use Aramex shop&ship from Hong Kong/China. If you're planning to buy expensive stuff get an IEC code. This will save a ton of money and time.

Can You please explain this on how IEC can save Money ?
Whenever you import something the import duty will be charged based on the HS code of the product if you have an IEC code. This is good because most of the electronic stuff have 12-26% duty.

If the IEC code is not mentioned in the shipment then it's treated as imported for personal use and charged at a flat rate of 42% (corresponding to HS Code 9804*) irrespective of the actual category of the item. So you'll end up paying 4.2k on a 10k item if you import it without IEC code where as with IEC code you'll get it at 1.2k-2.6k(of course this depends on the actual category of the item).
