Shouldn't we start a subreddit for TE?

As pointed our rightly by @mcfly , we'll have a better reach.

Any other benefits that comes to mind?

Better reach for what. Forums and reddit serve similar purposes while having different formats (In fact forums are much better laid out while reddit is an incoherent mess most of the time) . Don't see or feel the need to have a sub-reddit for a forum. What is it that you can't discuss here that you can over there. Also it will increase workload for admins and mods to run 2 places with no perceived benefit for the extra work load.

That was my initial thought as well. But then I feel reddit might help increase user base here at TE. More users on reddit, many of whom don't know about TE.

What would the purpose of that subreddit even be? If you want discussion of tech news, there's r/technology. If it's for computer hardware then there's r/hardware and so forth, you get the Idea. I don't understand what problem you believe having an r/techenclave will solve.
This is my own personal experience, but I first heard about techenclave from the r/indiangaming subreddit when they told me where I could get second hand parts from. Made an account back in 2019. Mostly found the deals on Erodov though and once that got shutdown I moved here. The buy and sell trade section wasn't as lucrative as Erodov, but atleast Techenclave remembered it was actually a tech forum. I came for the second hand market but stayed back for the discussion.
Looking at many other users here as well mentioning about how they heard about this forum from reddit, I'm not sure what you mean exactly by "More users on reddit, many of whom don't know about TE." then.
As members I think the best we can do is mention that this forum actually exists, while not everyone who joins for the market section may interact with the rest of the forum, if one or two become active out of a 100, I still think that's very good considering how forum culture is dying in this day and age.

Some users do find TE from Reddit but not many. If TE is mentioned in some post, the curious ones find and stumble onto TE - many don't. Having a sub IMHO will increase user base. Probably save them from going to OLX for market place.

Yes but how will they come to know about the subreddit anyway? People will only find out about it if it's mentioned on another post, and in that case we can just mention the forum instead so they'll come here.
I don't see much use in making a sub, r/indianGaming has hardware and sales posts so this wouldn't be much different

Posting FS links and good discussion links from TE website to sub. Then cross posting them regularly on r/indiagaming etc..

Nothing to be sold / bought from TE sub - it will just act as a channel to get to our forum here? The elimination of transactions from sub will reduce mod workload

Just food for thought...

Having too many users will increase workload of mods and also ruin the overall experience of the forum.

TE is an old forum but still it is running because of quality users.

Adding a subreddit will increase userbase of TE but decreases quality in the forum, which in turn could kill the forum.

I'd always place quality above quantity and that's how the older forums have survived. Frankly speaking, IMO, I don't want people who are coming over just because of the MP to join the forum. So many of them don't appreciate the rules and just spam threads to achieve the required post count and then just use the MP.

@bigquads - Please be honest and tell me, you want the user base to increase for the MarketPlace, right.

I disagree. Scalable growth is nothing to fear. Some experienced users can become mods eventually.

Not really. I found that TE market place is amazing. Many others could benefit from it instead of olx and FB market place? That's my intention.
Also, many hardware related queries of mine were solved here. Why shouldn't other novices benefit?

That's basically what I repeated? Only the curious are the ones who will even register in the first place. Plus this is just my hot take but I'm not too sure having just raw user numbers is the problem but having more people who will actually interact around more outside the marketplace is what we need. According to what you're saying you only seem to see techenclave as a pure buy and sell platform.

good discussion links from TE website to sub
@Rezep guess you missed this.. Would prefer you read it clearly before accusing blindly.

Anyway, this discussion is not heading in the direction I hoped - instead I'm getting snide personal comments and hence I don't think I should continue? Peace.

Sorry for being the skeptic, but I am glad that that wasn't your intention. But people like you are the minority from the many who have joined after closure of Erodov. People should read the MP guidelines and see that it is written over there - The Marketplace is for the members to let go of any excess baggage.
This means, that more importance is to be given to the forum and MP is secondary. But what happened recently was different. Huge influx of members was just for the MP and I saw so many people disregard the rules and still continue to do so. The main reason, I feel, behind that, is that most of them are here only for the deals and don't care about the rules or something as simple as respect for the seller. People write all kind of OT posts, price suggestions etc and even bully sellers at times just so that they get a good deal, as if seller rights have no meaning.

So, that's why you are seeing posts like mine who are very skeptical of loads of people joining as not everyone is respectful enough of the way a specific forum functions. To maintain the quality, it is necessary that we see slow growth. In fact, no one is stopping anyone from joining TE, unlike some other forums of India like TeamBHP which have an entry restriction just so that they can maintain the quality.
