Budget 10-15K Mi 11x vs Poco X3 Pro or sth else for less than ₹17k.

Hey all, I have a 3 year old Poco F1 and it urgently needs a battery change. From my past experience, repairing a phone has never given desired results so I am a bit apprehensive to do the same.

Hence, I am looking to buy a new phone having Snapdragon SoC coz Lineage OS is a must for me and Dimensity SoC doesn't have any custom rom support. I have shortlisted following options -

Mi 11x: ₹28k - ₹9k exchange poco f1 - ₹1.75k 10% hdfc discount = ₹17.35k approx

+ Amoled display
+ Better build quality
+ Faster and efficient processor
+ Better battery life
+ Lighter and slimmer
+ Better cameras? (I don't click many photos though)
+ Convenient exchange on Amazon (i can even exchange a cracked Note 5 Pro for ₹8050 after getting it repaired for 1000 bucks maybe)

- no sd card (I can forego this requirement ig)
- no headphone jack (but not an issue as I have switched to bluetooth headphones since Tin T2's cable died)

Poco X3 Pro: ₹19000 - ₹8500 sell poco f1 -₹1750 icici discount = ₹8750

+ Cheaper
+ Sd card

- very heavy
- thicker
- too big to handle
- lcd display
- lesser battery backup than 11X
- sell phone myself

I am preferring Mi 11X atm after watching TechTablet's comparison video linked below. Another thing is that X3 Pro seems like an evolution of Poco F1 in every aspect, but doesn't wow in any way.

So is 11X the best option in my budget atm? Kindly suggest some other smartphone if I have missed by chance. Thanks.

Not only that, the plan for pushing updates is also sketchy. I watched a video from C4ETech who contacted Lenovo for the update schedule. He was told that it will get A12 for sure. It was on Fusion+. I mean given the price tag, I would expect atleast 2 updates.
@iPwnz can you share your experience with Moto updates wrt G5?
Lenovo has close ties with CCCP
At this point it won't be wrong to ask which company in China exists which doesn't has ties with CCCP. Even if they don't want to, they would be forced into.
This will only hurt China in long run given how they are going after Jack Ma and others.

Do
All looks good on 11x. My only qalm is that battery capacity. I mean at 4520mah, you could end up running out of juice pretty quickly. It would depend a lot on how well optimised Miui is wrt battery. Top it up with 120hz, 5G means pushing it even further.

I mean people on LOS-based rom with similar battery could chip in more with their experience.
Don't forget these are android phones and have fast charging capabilities with most phones now charging to 50-75%in 30 minutes. So as long as you are able to modify your usage behavior to include 30 mins a day for juice up a day you can enjoy endless hours.

Don't worry about battery, use it as much as you want. After a year or two just go to mi service center and replace battery for about 1k and you are set for another year of high use.

I... OTOH, I am concerned about the camera. My F1 clicks really good pics with Gcam. Frankly, it outputs almost pixel-like color-popping pics. Afaik, 11x shares the cam with Note 10 Pro, which my sis has and its camera is TRASH for some reason and pics lack detail.
BTW, how does the Note 10 Pro compare with the Mi 11X, besides the camera? I ask, since both the Note 10 Pro and Pro Max retail for under 20K presently, well under the 11X. And as far as I can see, the specs appear on par as well, except for the processor, which I can certainly live with.

And on a different note - it's been a while since I bought a phone online, and when I last did, most phones on sale were sold by Cloudtail/Appario (Amazon) or Retailnet (FK). I find now that most hot-selling phones are sold by unfamiliar (at least to me) sellers - Darshita <whatever> (Amazon), Flipcliq (FK), etc. They are still Prime/Flipkart assured, but are they as good and hassle-free as the older established sellers?

I can't give first person review as I haven't used 11x myself but from online reviews it seems that 11x has better build quality and a better screen. Though both screens are similar spec wise, but differ in person. And yeah, processor is most obvious.

I think Darshita is similar to Appario or Cloudtail. Not sure about Flipcliq though.

Torn now between the 11X and the Note 10 Pro Max when I consider the price difference in particular, but obviously need to do a bit more homework. Thank you for the pointers.

Since you are already willing to come down on processor, Rn10 pro/max offers a great value more so with custom roms. Having a Gcam does utilise the hardware to its fullest.

This is PE for pro. It is very polished. LOS should have similar performance.
The only downside I see is, with every budget Redmi device, a limited set of 4G bands to support carrier aggregation. But that is also true for 11x. Also being a mid segment processor, it will stutter if pushed very hard. So keep a note if your usage has intensive tasks.
EoD it's all about how how well the OS is optimised. Should easily last you atleast 3 years. Miui is a heavy skin and it really bogs down the UX.

My phone is still in v.7.0. My friend who has the same phone updated it the latest then and it drastically reduced the performance of his device. The device slowed down a lot. Even opening apps wasn't instant anymore. So I'm not going to update it.
Lenovo is terrible with updates. My phone was unusable for the first few weeks/months because of all the crashes and bugs. I updated it to get rid of those issues and when the issues were fixed I stopped updating.
For any mobile software update I suggest people to check stability feedback first.

Thank you. Almost sold on the Note 10 Pro Max, given a camera performance very similar to the Mi 11X. And my usage would be quite mild - typically less than 2 hours talk time + 2~3 hours media consumption + a bit of browsing a day (no gaming or social media of any kind, nor any banking apps or google services). Will hold off for a couple of weeks to see if the prices go down a bit and go for it.

Just a heads up. Do check if the proximity sensor(software based rather than physical sensor) issue has been resolved. Afaik, Xiaomi has resolved it with Miui 12.5 update. But it's better to do homework Instead of last minute surprises..
@codelad @xkcd0137 you can ask the fellow user in this thread if anyone interested for 11x.

I have a Mi 11x, currently on miui global 12.5.2
...
But with the exchange offers, it's a really nice deal plus official LOS is now available from a month or so
Would love to hear about the actual camera experience as well. So far, given the specs, and from the reviews out there, the camera doesn't quite appear convincing.

Anyone else with thoughts on the Note 10 Pro Max camera? Is it worth the premium over their 10 Pro?

The camera is indeed not quite convincing, it's not just about the quality but overall experience, also had a galaxy note 10 before this in which I could just snap a pic and be sure that it will at least be a decent/usable picture but that's not exactly the case with Mi 11x

I did try gcam but the ultrawide was broken (caused crashes) I'm pretty sure you could find a perfectly good one if you searched for it but as I rarely use the camera I didn't look further
The picture quality itself was much better

Also LOS and probably most AOSP based ROMs are miles ahead of miui in general feel/speed/bloat
MIUI is really bad imo

One more thing I would like to add is many payment/banking apps do work fine even with failed safteynet like on Lineage OS (don't know if it's just a LOS thing)

For example 1)ICICI imobile works fine
2)Paytm also works fine (including UPI) just asks for consent that you understand/bear risk associated with rooted device (guess it treats failed safteynet as rooted even though no SU binaries are present)
3)Google Pay also works fine

PhonePe however refuses to work at all (can check balance but can't transfer)
Does work fine with Magisk Hide

Price of 11x usually drops till 28k, so I expect it to drop further during Diwali. Also, you can further reduce the price by around 10k if you have any spare phone to exchange.
At the cost of eating my own words, should I expect a further price drop around Diwali? If anyone has been following price trends lately, do share your opinion.

The price of 11X has again dropped to 28k - 10k discount for exchange = 18k. I don't mind waiting till Diwali but waiting 2 months and then buying it at the same 18k will be the worst KLPD ever.

Asking since the thought of that gorgeous OLED panel is making me weak in the knees.
