Budget 71-90K Mid Range Gaming PC Upgrade Advice for 1060 3GB

  • CPU - Intel i5 12600K -24k
  • MB - Gigabyte B660M DS3H WiFi - 11.5k
  • RAM - G.Skill SniperX 4x8GB DDR4 3600MHz C18 - 14k
  • Cabinet - Lian LiLancool 215X -6.3k
  • PSU - NZXT C750 80+ Gold - 9k
  • M.2 SSD - WD SN750SE 1TB - 9k
  • Total - 73.8k
I have that mobo. It surely can't handle 12600K at full load, i5 12400 is the max it can handle without throttling. In 10mins of Cinebench R20 at 25C ambient, mobo VRM temps were 76C with i5 12400 at 80W. Also, Hardware Unboxed has their mobo VRM tests out there, so that should be proof enough.

Thanks for the suggestion but I feel I'm happy with the build I have finalized. Purchase process is on as well:

CPU - Intel i7 12700F
MB - MSI Pro B660M-A Non Wifi (Already Purchased)
RAM - 16GBx2 (Will finalize tomorrow based on pricing)
Cabinet - Corsair 4000D Airflow
SSD - Samsung 980 1TB
PSU - Slightly confused between XPG Core Reactor 850 in comparison with Corsair RM850 since both are costing the same.
CPU Cooler - Deepcool AK620

Existing Hardware to be used: Asus Wifi Module + MX500 1TB SATA + KB + Mouse + Monitor/LED TV
Future Upgrade: 3070/3070Ti/3080 (If reasonable)

Please suggest the PSU that I should go ahead with. Rest all is finalized.

I'll pick Corsair RM850, good reputation.

Sorry for bumping up an old thread but need some suggestions. My current rig is as follows and now I am in an need of a suitable graphics card for the build.

CPU - Intel i7 12700F
MB - MSI Pro B660M-A Non Wifi
RAM - 16GBx2 G Skill Ripjaws 3200 Mhz
Cabinet - Corsair 4000D Airflow
SSD - Samsung 980 1TB x 2
PSU - XPG Core Reactor 850
CPU Cooler - Deepcool AK620
Wifi - Asus Wifi Module
Monitor/LED - 4K Samsung 65 inch Frame 2021. Earlier was using a Dell
24 inch 1080p monitor which has been removed.
Graphics Card - 1060 3GB

Due to the sudden jump in resolution to 4K the 1060 feels grossly underpowered and thus the need for a suitable graphics card.
Budget - 75K Approximately

Need your valuable suggestions.

RX 6800XT for 58k:

You save 17k over 3080 12GB, but will lose DLSS & inferior ray tracing performance. But RT at 4K will bring even 3080 to its knees. Expect 3080 12GB to be just ~5% faster on average than the 10GB model. FSR is very close to DLSS now for upscaling.

Will waiting for the new cards (Nvidia 40 Series or AMD 7900 Series ??) be of any help since current 40 series pricing is way beyond my budget.
AMD's new GPUs are $900 & $1000, so expect 90k & 100k for those or worse as AMD usually has poor pricing in India but late in the product lifecycle, they become very good value. So decide if you are willing to extend your budget that much for latest gen GPU. 7900XTX might outperform 4080 based on rumours, but we will know more in a week.

Agree with @OMEGA44-XT, 6800XT is a very good option right now. Waiting will be fruitful only if you wait for at least 2-3 months. Otherwise you'll end up overpaying significantly when it comes to price/performance.
