Revanced: possible successor to vanced utube

Revanced Manager has been released in Alpha version. Expect a lot of bugs.

What is revanced manager?
It's an official mobile user interface provided to operate revanced patcher. Before this, a user had to operate revanced patcher through command line interface like cmd, shell etc. Now all the patchwork is made easy because of the revanced manager. It also is a store for patches.

What is revaned patcher?
It's a framework built to patch different APKs. It can be used to add or remove functionality from APKs. You have to provide it one APK and a set of community built patch scripts. The revanced patcher will make modifications to the APK using those patches. It'll then output the modified APK. You can use it through commands or use Revanced manager.

How to operate revanced manager?
Download and install latest revanced manager version from Github. Open it. Select an app to patch. As of now, it supports youtube only but expect more Apps in the future. Your selected app is what you already had on the mobile. So you may want to update it through play store first. Then select which patches you want to apply. It'll take a long time to apply the patches. Be patient. After that, it'll also offer you to install those modified apks.
 
What's wrong with using good old youtube vanced + microG which still to this day works without issues? For other ads in other apps or the web I use pihole network wide.

Is there any significant advantage or benefits or switching over to revanced and I'm not sure what the installation process is or how complicated it is.

There's nothing wrong with vanced for now. But it'll stop running someday and then what?

Revanced is like buying a car insurance for some accident that's 100% going to happen sometime in the future. Even I haven't installed it yet but I welcome the development.

I agree with the sentiment but not the latter part comparing it to an insurance...
If you see it that way then I see it as a new insurance company which just opened up and isn't mature yet anyways I do support the development but I'd refrain from use until it's well established and needed.

Nothing is wrong with that. I am still using it. Just that it may stop working anytime if and when G decides to change the YT code which makes it incompatible with Vanced.

My understanding is that it works differently as a universal patcher and is not just intended for YT. It is not yet as easy to use like Vanced but is getting there.

Yeah, that's what makes it a hassle now which I don't wanna get into but maybe at some point I have to.

Mate nobody is forcing you to use revanced. Even the developers of revanced are classifying it in alpha version. There will be beta version then there will be stable version some time in the future. I'm not using it. Google is going to pull the plug on vanced someday and there's nothing one can do about it.

Revanced is what comes after vanced.

When the time comes, there will be ready to use APKs available. No need to compile things yourself. Just pick your flavour and install it like any other apk. Somebody will do the all the hard work for the rest of us.

Vanced freezes on me now and then. So i want to see whether this new app is more stable. Build process is not that hard. If we can build other clients like twitter and reddit then that's a bigger bonus.

Yup! and it has already started breaking in few countries. Very soon going to affect across that;s the google's strategy all along
 
Started using Revanced a week ago. I'm loving it so far and mostly is stable. Anyway, if it stops working, I'm pretty sure there will be alternatives cropping up within months as YouTube is also vamping up ads.
